August 2008 ! - Amazingly the second half of the season has seen our girls play just 1 game with rain ruining the other 4 fixtures, yeah cheers for that England.

August 3 - The girls who were 2nd in the league played 3rd placed Tytherington at MHCC this afternoon, the game was always going to be a tough task with the ever thoughtful and inspirational ECB organisers deciding after 5 weeks of not playing it would be an ideal opportunity for the England Academy players to have some throw downs and tennis ball catching practice, albeit on the same day as a National Premier league fixture, hence Danni Wyatt and Georgia Elwiss were unavailable to play for MHCC. The game did see the return of new mother Helen Pack, who bowled with all the pace and vigour of her before child days, and also took one of the most incredible one handed catches ever seen at Willow Lane. Tytherington batted first and amasses 159 from their 50 overs, with the Whyle twins starring with 2 wickets at an economy rate of less than 2 per over between them. Chasing 160 to win proved 16 to many for the girls with only Sue Redfern making any inroads. How England and the ECB can possibly think a 'Cricket' training session is better than a Premier League game of 'Cricket' is beyond any right thinking cricket lover and has given the final league placings a rather false sense of meaning as this game was an absolute certain victory for MHCC Women at full strength.

Danni Wyatt on her way to a very impressive 13 !
