January 22 - MHCC PRE-SEASON DINNER INFO BELOW!! -
Dear All, We are considering holding a MHCC pre season dinner at the 4 star country house hotel Rookery Hall provisionally on Saturday 24th March. www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/hotels/rookery-hall This would comprise of a formal sit down 3 course fine dining experience in a private room. The cost for this experience would be in the region of £25.00 per head and we need a minimum number of 50 guests. Stoney has suggested that he could possibly arrange mini buses for those who do not wish to drive - cost to be split between all those travelling. There may be a possibility of staying at the hotel at a reduced rate, but this can not be guaranteed until numbers are available and our booking is made. Can all senior team managers forward this email or a text to their players as we do not have all current contact details yet for this year and obtain confirmation that they are willing to participate in this one off opportunity. If you could ask them to email markedwardscdl@btinternet.com or text 07815769345 and we shall see if we can make this work as opportunities on a Saturday night are few and far between.
January 21 - Senior nets start 3rd February 7-9pm at YMCA (New Building).

December 8 - AGM Results just in.... All roles filled with enthusiasm for 2012 season. Stoney will skipper the one's once more to continue his great work, with Jake as his more than adept number 2. Potty will also work with the progression of our two's after last years fine efforts, with Beefy hoping to appear more than 4 times as his side kick. Stevie G and Toado will keep the 3's flowing smoothly once more. Biggest news is the appointment of new Chairman Mark Edwards to replace the smart work of Tommy Baker. Without question Mark (and Sam) will do an amazing job. Thanks to Sean Colby and Thelma Holland who take over from DDA after his 78 year tenure as Secretary has come to an end. Well done DDA, more on DDA soon me thinks.... Matt Lewis is our new Commercial Manager, Sheila Cooper helped by DDA will take care of all our millions, and the usual suspects for the supporting roles have all been filled by the usual stars of MHCC.

October 22 - HALLOWEEN THIS FRIDAY !!!!!
October 2 - Don't forget !!!! - Halloween Fancy Dress on 28th October and the Fireworks 'do' on the 4th November!!!!!
September 18 - 2011 as usual ended with the Pioneering fancy dress festivities, and once again the standard was unbelievably high. Some great costumes and a lot of hard work going into all those who dared, but not doubt in this years winner, a great effort by soon to be famous 'Heidi' with her Colonel Sanders KFC get up, well done Heidi!!
September 17 - The two's managed to avoid the dreaded drop with a fine win and double over Sandyford, Beefy's 55 and Dode's career ending 45 secured a 3 wicket win for Potty's band of brothers/sisters/children etc. The one's were on course for an easy win against Norton when the rain fell leaving us 2 wickets shy of a maximum 25 pointer, Woody smashing 56* earlier.
September 10 - Fancy Dress this Saturday don't be miserable and not bother to dress up!!!!
September 9 - One's lose at Checkley ABA despite Freddies presence, chasing 175 the good guys were knocked out for 130 with Stoney hitting 38 the only player punching above his weight in the chase. The Two's picked up 10 valuable points against Rode Park, chasing just 98 to ensure safety from relegation, rain and some poor batting left us scrambling to 62 for 6 and just ensure the winning draw bonus points, Broughy and Neil taking all 10 wickets in Rode's innings.
September 3 - Forthcoming events…

Please bring your sparklers and a large firework for our team to ignite.
September 2 - Apologies for the lack of updates but Holidays beckoned, and now all refreshed newsworthy items will be added. Please see Match reports to see Addo's reporting skills over a couple of the Thirds games including Freddie's bowling heroics at Audley. Results have been quite ordinary and no major scores of note to shout about. Firsts are finishing nicely in the top half which is credit to all concerned none more so than Stoney for his commitment and desire for MHCC. The Two's have sneaked out of the relegation zone by the skin of their teeth but using the game in hand up, leaving them with a 3 point cushion with 2 games to go. Performances worthy of noting over the last couple of weeks have been Freddies 66, Pottys 5 for 13, Jakes blistering 88, Limmys 6 for 25, Kierons 42, Iftys 5 for 35 and Ozzys 6 for 58.
August 19 - From PG - Meir Heath Girls' U11 Team, MH Vixens, were Staffordshire's Representatives in the Lady Taverners' Midland Regional Finals held at Moseley CC on Monday 1st Aug. The Vixens played six and won six games to be crowned Midland Champions. The Meir Heath Girls' are unbeaten in all competitions this season. See Snaps for Photo!
August 8 - Monthly meeting adjurned until 16th August to allow DDA to attend a third birthday party!
August 7 - After last weekend's victories it was possibly obvious that we would all flat on our faces this weekend, with the one's and two's losing and the three's hanging on thanks to the weather. The one's went down by 9 wickets at home to Weston despite posting a good 196 runs. The Two's went down also, by 31 runs, but still managed to stay out of the drop zone after picking up 8 points. The three's hit a solid 206 mainly thanks to Freddie's swashbuckling 66 (video evidence to appear here soon), Sandyford were just 35 short with 10 overs left when the heaven's opened. Better news for MHCC as our Under 17's look to have secured the league title for the first time since Pete Britton's 1988 side. A 9 wicket win at Little Stoke (Ozzy 3 wickets and Tom 71*) gave us 20 points which by everyone's reckoning except some missing results which we believe we know the result of sealed the trophy!
August 2- Addo in Player Profiles!!
August 2 - See match reports for Addo's thoughts on the 3's win at Knype.....
August 1 - Great weekend for all four MHCC teams, Firsts beat Norton by 18 runs, hitting 228 thanks to Stoney's 79, Ifty's 47 and Jase's 55, Norton were bowled out in the penultimate over of the day by Under 17's talent, Dalo taking the catch for new boy Liam 'Limmy' Evans, after Ifty had picked up yet another bagful of wickets (5-71) and Woody's 3-75. The Two's continued their great form with their 3rd straight victory this time over Sandyford. Sandyford batting first hit 199, Neil and Ozzy picking up 6 wickets between them, steady batting throughout saw us home by 4 wickets with 5 overs to spare, Galli hitting 36, Naj 30 and Ozzy 33. The thirds also won at Knype see Match report for Addo's debut appearance as correspondent. The 17's remain top with a 25 pointer at Hanford, Dalo smashing 92 and Tom 55 in our 168 for 1 declared after only 15 overs, Hanford were the dismissed for just 57, Ozzy picking up a cheeky 3 for. With only one game to go it looks like the 17's need just 4 points to secure the title...
July 31 - Dawn and Greg celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary at MHCC with a great night at the club.
July 28 - Under 13's final report - Last report of the 2011 Season. Away at Oakamoor we batted first after winning the toss and scored 270 / 4 (250 nett), with Charlie scoring 16 and Shazad 14. Oakamoor bowled very well. The last time we played Oakamoor we lost by 1 run, with 4 balls left they needed 3 to win and i thought that we would go the same way. But this time we took a vital wicket on the 4th ball of the over we won by 3 runs. Alex Holland taking 2 for 11 and Louis Colby 3 for 12. The bowling was excellent by all the lads again. So the season has finished and we have come a very respectable 2nd place in our division, well done to all the lads who have played this season, you have been brilliant. Shaun
July 26 - Still no news on Stabbo's stories despite promises from our law enforcer...
July 26 - Winning Draw for the One's on Saturday, Stoney and Jakey hitting quality runs, Oulton hanging on tho' 8 down despite good efforts all round. Two's scrape home at Newcastle & Hartshill, Asim's 3 wickets kept the home team down to 145 all out. Steady batting throughout and good use of common sense saw us home 7 down with 2 overs to go. 17's stay top despite failing to beat bottom side Hem Heath B, Tom's ton well supported with Ozzy's 49, Webby's 3 wickets not enough as our bowling failed to function enough.
July 25 - Further to the tragic death of Sara (U11 - Patrick's mum) After discussions with numerous parents, we have decided that we would like to purchase a new bench and dedicate this to Sara at the club. Please pass any donations you may be kind enough to offer to myself or any U11 parent, so we can get this ready for the U9/U11 presentation evening on Friday 9th September.
July 23 - MHCC U9s fell at the final hurdle in the U9 Ralph Mitchell Cup Final, against SMJCL Section B League winners Sandyford. After losing the toss MHCC were put into bat, but 'cup final' nerves set-in and the children made some uncharacteristic errors, which put is immediately on the back foot. However, tight bowling and fielding from MHCC didn't allow Sandyford to push-on as they would have hoped, but we were still significantly behind at the interval. Our second innings was a vast improvement on the first, but our batting total still left us with a near impossible task to win the cup. However, after a wicket fell with the first ball of Sandyford's innings the children, backed by a superb partizan crowd, began to take wicket after wicket and at one point closed the deficit to only 12 runs. However, this was as close as it got and Sandyford scored some late runs to win by 37 runs. This stunning bowling and fielding performance in Sandyford's second innings, despite not being quite enough on the night, did show supporters the talent, which has lead to them being crowned SMJCL Section C League and Round Robin winners already this season. I couldn't have been prouder of our children, even in defeat! Thank you to everyone who came up and supported the children - it was much appreciated. Jon D. See Club Snaps!!
July 23 - Update on last weekend's matches, don't think it would have gone unnoticed but we hammered Moddershall! Ifty taking 7 wickets and Stoney hitting 70 with a broken arm to keep the great run going, the two's also did their bit for local pride with a nice win at home to Mod two's. Ozzy picking up his first senior 5 wicket haul, chasing 155 was steadily passed with a classy 62 from Dode and a mature 37 from Ozzy. The 17's remain top after a washout Sunday.
July 22 - Under 13's report - Another win tonight for the lads with a good solid performance against a stronger Checkley team that we had played previously this season. Checkley won the toss and batted. We kept them down to 277 for 6 ( nett 247 ), Louis Colby taking 3 for 13, but the bowling from all the lads was excellent. We scored 285 for 3 ( 270 nett ) to win by 23 runs, with Charlie scoring 17no and Louis 14. Contributions though from all the lads plus a pile of extras got them through with a comfortable win. A good team performance tonight played against a side who also play with great team spirit. One game left away at Oakamoor next week.
July 15- Don Adams joined Meir Heath CC in 1970 and quickly became one of MHCC’s most valuable assets. Since joining MHCC some 41 years ago Don has held various positions, including Chairman of Selectors, 1st XI Captain as well as being a Club Trustee. However, it is in his most current role as Hon. Secretary which he has held since 1984, a staggering 27 years that has seen him become MHCC’s very own Unsung Hero. The hours of work that Don has given up every week for the past 27 years would rival most full time jobs, yet all his time and efforts are incredibly offered on a voluntary basis. Over the past five years Don has been heavily involved in a number of successful grant aid applications (upwards of £30,000) that have seen Meir Heath’s facilities drastically improve. As an individual Don seeks absolutely no recognition for his work and is always quick to redirect any praise given to him to others within the club. As a club we feel that when Don steps down from his current posts next season we have a huge hole to fill. It is with no doubt that I can say that MHCC would not be half the club it is today were it not for Don Adams countless hours of service to its members. (Don's Nomination for Life time Achiever)
July 15- Don Wins Outstanding Services to Cricket Award- Lifetime Achiever...... Since it became official recently that a certain v. mature MHCC member attended an awards ceremony and did in fact come away with the Staff's CB equivalent of a "gong" he has been aware of just how many "ultra officio" friends he has at Willow Lane. All these smiling people [as well as enquiring after the subject's health following an extremely intrusive operational procedure [again] are keenly agog to know if you know who may take a companion or two or three etc., to Lords in early October. I am afraid the answer to this pressing poser is "He does not know" -yet. What our friend does know however is that the occasion at Knypersley CC became one of those life's moments charged with a unique sensation and not at all repeatable. Yes he has known many of those experiences which cannot ever be forgotten but the most recent example is one which he would wish to share with so many others he has had the priceless good fortune to know since arriving at MHCC in 1970.
Therefore besides being a recognition of what DDA may have been lucky to promote and preserve at Willow Lane, the award will stand as much a reminder of the magic generated then, now and for times yet to come at our beautiful and famous club.
Thanks be to God and to all my friends- Brutus included who continues to turn over the pages of my Times over breakfast!
D.L.C.F.
July 14 - Update from last nights big clash against Moddershall. Sadly, we lost to a very good game against Moddershall last night. Moddershall had brought out all the County players who don't usually play on a Wednesday, testament to the fact that they must have recognised our lads as a potential threat to them winning the league this year. That extra little bit they had just about took them over the line, although at one point, when we had them for 4 wickets i really thought that we could do this. All of the lads should be really proud of themselves, good bowling, batting and fielding. We batted first, Moddershall won the toss. We scored 280/6 ( 250 nett ), Will G had an eventful innings, with Jason scoring 15no and Will Ward 11no. Moddershall crossed the line in the last over to win by 3 runs, Alex Holland taking 2 for 7. The result does put us 7 points behind Moddershall with 2 games left. Its still mathematically possible, where i have heard that comment before, so lets win the last 2 games and see where that gets us.
July 11 - Jack Dundas lost a pair of new Kookaburra batting gloves on Friday night, someone might have put them in their bag by mistake maybe , we checked the dressing rooms etc but couldn’t find them, could all at the club on Friday please check their bags.
July 11 - Darts Vote Over! - Best Intro as voted by MHCC faithful - Jase 'Bald Eagle' Britton with 37.7%, Bobby Bullseye was second with 24.4% of the vote and third went to Billy The Kid with 17.7%, cheers for voting!!!
July 11 - A few bits top catch up on as I still have had no volunteers to help on the web site postings, please do so ASAP if you want this site more up to date! The one's have beaten Leycett yet again and had Whitmore 9 down this Saturday to pick up a nice 38 point haul in a fortnight, Birchy and Ifty scoring runs and taking wickets both weeks. The Two's are fighting hard to avoid the drop but a tie at Stafford and a loss at a hostile and dangerous Whitmore still leaves them 6 points from safety. 17's remain top with a good win this Sunday at Hem Heath, with not-so-lazy anymore Liam Evans smashing 68*! 15's are mid table but have found a new batting star in Brand Potty after his 29* and 36* in consecutive weeks.
July 10 - Message 2 from Jon D.! - U9s into Ralph Mitchell Final On Saturday 2nd July 2011 Meir Heath CC U9s won through to the U9 Ralph Mitchell Final, after a hardfought home semi-final against U9 Section E Champions Hem Heath - U9 Section A Champions Silverdale were beaten on the road in a tense last-ball quarter final win too. As a result of this fantastic win our U9s (U9 Section D Champions) will now host Sandyford CC (U9 Section A Champions) on Thursday 14th July 2011 in the U9 Ralph Mitchell Final, as they hope to complete a very memorable season. Also, on Thursday 7th July 2011 at Willows Lane, the U9s will clinch the Section C Round Robin League, if they can win just two of their final three Round Robin games. The U9s might then go into the Ralph Mitchell Final with the possibility of completing an amazing Treble! Please come and give your support to the U9s in the Final.
July 10 - Message from Jon D. - The U9s have now gone one better than last year's runners-up spot, by winning the league on Saturday with a superb performance, away to a strong second-placed Stone 'A', with one game remaining. Also, last Thursday the U9s beat top-of-the-league Silverdale in the Quarter-final of the Ralph Mitchell Cup, with their fourth last-ball victory opf the season. The Semi-final against Hem Heath is, weather permitting, due to take place this Saturday at Meir Heath - please come along support our U9s, as they bid to reach the final. Also, last night the U9s made it 8 wins out of 9 in the Round Robin, so the 'Treble' is still very much on. Well done to all who have played - just keep it up for another couple of weeks! A huge thank you to all Meir Heath CC members who have sponsored me for my Welsh 3000 Challenge, in aid of my nominated charities: Children with Cancer (formerly Children with Leukaemia) and Doxey School Fund. At 2.20am on 27th June I completed the 26 mile walk, over 15 3000ft mountains, with 1hr 10mins to spare - my most demanding challenge to date! If you have not sponsored me and would still like to, please sign my sponsorship form at the club over this weekend. For those who have please give me your sponsorship when you see me or send it to Jon. Dreher. Doxey Primary School, Marsland Road, Stafford. ST16 1EG. Check Out Jon's Pic also in Club Snaps!
July 5 - Sean Colby with the 13's - After 2 weeks with no game, the prospect of not playing for a third week seemed likely given the weather throughout the day, however, our home game with Barlaston started on time with a little rain in the air. This rain continued throughout the evening, but we managed a result, and a good win for us. Barlaston won the toss and batted, we kept them to 259 for 6 ( 229 nett ), Charlie, Will and Josh Bristow with 2 wickets each. The lads batted well and scored 272 for 2 (nett 262) to win by 33 runs, Charlie 14no, Louis 12no and Jason 12. A good result despite the weather, well done lads. Next weeks game is the big one against Moddershall at home.
June 29 - MHCC's own Austen Crump and Harvey Lowe will be playing in the Lords Taverners National Schools Final at Oakham next Thursday against Portsmouth Grammar School, as their school 'Denstone College' progressed to the final yesterday, Ozzy starring with the bat with 72 and Harvey with the ball taking 5 for 23.
June 28 - Busy weekend's cricket to catch up on, The Firsts completely dominated the game against a very negative Checkley and picked up a winning draw, Ifty hitting 45 and Neil taking 4 wickets. The Two's went down to Rode Park, hitting 115 (Ozzy 30) was never enough and Rode just crawled across the line with 2 overs to spare. The 17's unfortunately lost with a very much weakened side to Moddershall but remain top. T20 action on Sunday saw us bow out to Longton as ourselves and Woore lost to them but we salvaged a bit of pride by beating Woore. The Three's also lost to Hem Heath. Monday night did see our 15's win thanks to a classy 29* from Brand Potty knocking off Oulton's 94 with 7 balls left.
June 22 - Well last night at Porthill saw one of the strangest days ever in MHCC's history. The farcical administration of the T20 cup saw 9 of MHCC's finest, including 5 players, Stoney (non-playing captain) and The Edwards family travel to Porthill for a 7pm Tuesday night bowl off against Porthill and Norton. Norton beat Porthill in the first match so our boys had to play the hosts, after a 4-4 draw (Ozzy, Jake, Tom & Neil hitting) took us to sudden death but saw us lose 4-5. That meant we had to beat Norton to stay in the competition, again we went to sudden death after a 3-3 draw (Ozzy, Tom & Neil hitting) but this time we held our nerve as Ozzy hit to give us a 4-3 win. This forced a 3 way sudden death finale, Stoney won the toss and elected to have the first bowl, unfortunately Ozzy just missed but so did Porthill and Norton, Neil then hit and when Porthill missed it meant the hosts were definitely out and if Norton missed MHCC would proceed to the next round, the whispers of the MHCC Nine of "Miss, Miss, Miss It", i'm sure went a long way to the Norton bowler missing and ensuring a home tie this Sunday against Longton and Woore.
June 21 - Shaun Colby reports from the Under 13's - Back to winning ways !!!! A comprehensive win last night at home to Checkley. Checkley won the toss and asked us to bat. We scored 304 for 3 ( 289 nett) an excellent score, with Charlie Walford 18no including a big six, Will Ward also 18no, Louis Colby 15, Oli Edwards 14 and Will Gallimore 12. Tight bowling meant that we kept Checkley to 263 for 4 ( 243 nett ), with Alex Holland taking 2 for 10. A great effort well done, lets keep this momentum going with only 5 games left we can still win this league.
June 20 - Weekend to forget for the Seniors, the One's crashed at Elworth to 79 all out, although managing to take 4 wickets before the home side ran out winners. The Two's looked good chasing 156 to win at 65 for 2 before the rain came thus provoking a mad scramble for runs that faltered to 101 for 8 at the close. The 17's remain top with a good win against Little Stoke B, Tom, Dalo and Biebs in the runs, Dalo, Limmy and Potty taking vital wickets in bowling the visitors out for 93. The Under 9's also remain top with a win against Stone B.
The U9s have gone into the second half of the season on top of their section, after their third last ball victory of the season against a combative Little Stoke. However, with tough away games at Stone 'B' and Stone 'A', all is still to play for - our last game is at home to Whitmore. In the Ralph Mitchell Cup the U9s entertain Silverdale in the Quarter Finals on Friday night, after beating Stone 'D' and Ashcombe Park in earlier rounds. Also, in the first Round Robin at Endon, the U9s won the first competition by winning all three games - there are three further to play. Going into this weekend the 'Treble' is still on the cards!
June 16 - Request from Under 9 coach Jon Dreher - Dear All On Saturday 25th June 2011 at 3.00am I will start the Welsh 3000, a challenge which requires me to go to the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport. The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total, hopefully before 3.00am in the early hours of Sunday morning. I undertake this challenge for two charities: Children With Cancer (formerly Children With Leukaemia) inaugarated by Diana, Princess of Wales and Doxey School Fund. If you are able to please make a donation by signing my sponsor form, which will be left in the pavilion 17th June-1st July or by mailing me back with a pledge, name, address, postcode and agreement to gift aid.
June 15 - Don't forget this Sunday see's the Charity Matches in action at MHCC, raising funds for Dougie Mac and The Joe Gilligan Trust. The First Team, The Roebuck and The Parents battle it out from 1.30pm. Don't forget your bottles and cakes!
June 14 - Last Saturday saw the one's remain unbeaten for another week with a battling performance against four Bangladeshi players and some lads who can field from Blythe. Posting 241 was always going to be tricky, and maximum batting points and not to lose became a priority, Jake's 42, and Joe and Beefy's rear guard action ensured the draw. The Two's however came up trumps at Blythe. Bowling the home team out for 180 with Limmy Evans on debut snatching 4 wickets, it looked a step to far as we hit 124 for 7, but debutant for the second time round Chris Galli steered us home with a fine knock of 73 not out, ably supported by Keiron and Deggy.
June 10 - DDA's exclusive thoughts on Saturday's game in Match Reports!!
June 10 - 3 new pics in Club Snaps!!
June 9 - VOTE NOW! IS BACK FOR 1 WEEK ONLY
June 9 - Well if you missed the Darts on Saturday night I think you will find you missed one of the best nights ever at MHCC. Anyone with pictures of the evening please let me have them and I will collate them and get them all on a CD for purchase! The games were of a surprisingly high standard, First round matches went the way of Freddie, Stu, Jase and Jake who beat Billy, Grego, Stoney and Potty respectively. The semi's were won by Stu who beat Freddie 2-0, and Jase who scraped past Jake 2-1 in probably the best match of the night. Stu then went on to lift the trophy with a 2-0 win against Jase in the final. Top efforts and Kudos to - Neil (scorer), Ozzy (scorer), Jake 'Croc Hunter' Heath, Shakie (MC), Richy 'Bulimec Boy' Stonier, Stu 'The Butcher' Sim, Tom (security), Dalo (blonde model), Kieron (brunette model), Grego 'Diggermaker' Heath, Alex 'Freddie' Quaintance, Bobby 'Bullseye' Philpott, Billy 'The Kid' Locker, Jason 'The Bald Eagle' Britton and Ifty (catering).
June 9 - Sean Colby writes about the Under 13's - Reports this week including a late one for last weeks match. Sadly two more defeats mean that after winning our first four matches we have now lost the last four, the league table is still looking really close between all 5 teams in the league, i'll email out the table later. Last week we played Barlaston away, it wasn't one of our best games scoring just 245 for 6 ( nett 215), Alex Holland scoring 17 of them. And this is where cricket can be hugely frustrating when we manage to then take 9 wickets and still lose. Barlaston scored 223 nett and we lost by 8 runs, excellent bowling by Will and Joe who took 3 wickets each. Last night we played away again at Moddershall. Moddershall batted first and scored 276 nett, no wickets were taken. We scored 268 for 3 (nett 253) to lose by 23 runs. To me it certainly didn't feel like a game that in the end had such a big winning margin. On the batting front, Charlie 13, Jason 13, so well done lads. Four of our last 6 matches are at home so lets make use of that and finish this season strongly.
June 9 - Under 11's Sam reports - A great win for the lads on Monday against Oakamoor – batting first we finished on 291 for 3 with Josh and Nathan both hitting 15 n/o and the tight bowling from all in the second half saw Oakamoor finish on 259 for 6 with Josh and Nathan again excelling and taking the wickets between them. Well played to all and special congratulations to our man of the match Josh Bristow.
June 9 - Well a load to catch up on after a busy week for MHCC on and off the pitch, Saturday we visited Cheadle and racked up a club record 292 for 7 off 55 overs, Birchy & Ifty hitting half centuries, but highlight of the day and possibly the season was Jase's incredible 83 off only 34 balls including 9 sixes. Cheadle's reply was patient but never threatening once the top 3 quality players were dismissed and they stumbled to 185 for 7, a couple of catches could have seen the good guys to victory, Neil being the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 48 off 19 overs. The Two's performed well again, restricting Cheadle to 188 despite a cluster of poor decisions going against us, the decisions continued to go Cheadle's way with yet another 3 shockers to leave us 30 short. Blame must go to skipper Bobby Bullseye who apparently had cross words with the umpire in 1983. The Seventeens stayed top with an easy win against Hanford, Dalo and Ozzy took 7 wickets between them and then Tom smashed 65 to knock off Hanford's modest 108. The Three's finished 2 short of victory in a high scoring match at Willow Lane with Stu hitting 93.
June 1 - Well the highlight of the season so far is only 3 days away now! Saturday night see's the Premier League Darts come to Willow Lane, and we are glad to say all contracts with players have been signed and approved by all parties and the draw for the first round has been made. Billy 'The Kid' Locker takes on Alex 'Freddie' Quaintance, Stu 'The Butcher' Sim battles it out with Grego 'The Diggermaker' Heath, Richy 'Bulimic Boy' Stonier clashes with Jason 'The Bald Eagle' Britton, and the first round's finale is Jake 'Croc Hunter' Heath versus Bobby 'Bullseye' Philpott. Chucking begins at 9pm! Don't miss this great event, we can guarantee it will be talked about for a long time to come!!
May 29 - Great weekend for the One's and Two's as both teams beat Betley's equivalent. The 2's notched up their first win of the season with a 6 wicket win thanks to Tom's 5 wickets and Dode's 100*. The 1's picked up maximum points with a comprehensive win at home, Birchy's classy 101* set us up with a great platform, Ifty and Broughy ripped the heart out of Betley with 7 wickets between them and a cheeky 2 for 0 from debutant Ozzy sealed the win. The 17's went to the top of Section E with a 75 run win at Hem Heath, Franky 47 and Brandon's 3 wickets standing out for us, the 13's also notched their first victory up with a 1 wicket win at Blythe, top effort from Will G with his 4 overs and 4 wickets for 0 runs. The Under 9's also sneaked through to the fourth round of the cup with a 3 run win at Ashcombe Park.
May 25 - News on the big Darts evening... the first of our 8 players has been confirmed as none other than the legendary Grego 'The Diggerman' Heath!! We are also in advanced negotional talks with European champion Bobby 'Bullseye' Philpott too!! The 6 other players will be announced very shortly!!
May 24 - Under 11's report - A fantastic result against Caverswall saw us hit a mighty 308 for 3 - congratulations to Man of the Match Jack Lewis for his 23 n/o. We then followed on by taking 13 wickets, the highlights being Josh Bristow's 5 for 9 and Jack's 3 for 5. Congratulations lads - it was freezing out there and the whole team effort was awesome - keep this up and we will climb the table in no time!
May 23 - News from weekends games. One's get first league victory of the season at Weston and don't have to wait another week as reported in The Sentinel. Ifty's 5 for and Crumpy's 3 wickets restricted Weston to 169 all out, Birchy then constructed a top class 74* to see us home with 5 wickets to spare despite the Gaelic Force winds in South Cheshire. The Two's almost made it a perfect day after hitting 260 for 5 with Luke's big 113 and Freddie scoring a majestic 82, Meakins finished 9 down and only 4 runs short in a great game at Willow Lane. Sunday was so close to making a perfect weekend for the One's losing by just 2 runs to premier outfit Wood 'Lilliput' Lane, setting the good guys 226 for victory, Stoney played well for his 60, and quick fire 20's from Jake & Ifty left us needing 21 off the last over after Ozzy had survived 2 overs of real pace from Pakistani Pro' Asad Ali. Number 11 and highly under rated Broughy set to the home sides spinner with almost unbelievable ease, hitting 18 off the first 5 balls leaving just 3 to win off the last ball, a top edge was incredibly unlucky to find a fielder and Peter was caught at fine leg. A great game which if nothing else should let Stoney's men have a more positive approach to the next few games. Under 17's won again beating top side Little Stoke to move up to third, bowling the visitors out for 131, Dalo 3 for 14 and Ozzy 4 for 13 was no mean feat at all. Tom and Dalo then put on 98 for the first wicket before Dalo saw us right up to the finish line as we won with 3 overs to spare and 7 wickets left. Unfortunately the Three's went down to the always strong Sport Asia team by 119 runs.
May 22 - Under 13's supremo Sean Colby writes - Reports from 2 games played Wednesday and Thursday last week. Wednesday we played Oakamoor away, having already had a game earlier in the season come down to the last ball, a second match in as many weeks going to the last ball is not good for the nerves. Sadly this time the result not going in our favour.. Oakamoor won the toss and asked us to bat. We batted well against a good bowling attack, 262 for 3 (247 nett) was our score batting first. Will Gallimore scoring 18. Oakamoor needed 2 off the last ball and and they found a gap and ran 2, finishing on 268 for 4 (248 nett) to win by 1 run. Oli and Charlie in particular bowled well. Unlucky lads ! Thursday's game will hopefully be the one we forget and forget quickly. We played Leek A at home, and found a decent team who played really well on the night, where we played below par. One or two good performances with the bat, Oli and Will Gallimore just getting in to double figures. But thats where i'll leave it, we lost and are now out of the cup. I'm sure the lads will bounce back with a win when we next play in the league on June 1st.
May 17 - PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS COMES TO MHCC!! - Announced today that June 4th 2011 we will have all the top players from MHCC gracing the oche at Willow Lane, World Champion Alex 'Freddie' Quantaince says he is thrilled to be a part of the proceedings and looks forward to lifting the trophy as he feels the other players aren't as good as him whatsoever. More details on finalising contracts with other top names will be announced as soon as we have them.
May 17 - Staffordshire Women are playing against the MCC Women at MHCC on Tuesday 24th May. The game commences at 10.45 am.
May 17 - Under 15's progress to the Quarter Final of the KO Cup with a 4 wicket victory against Porthill at Fenton last night. Ozzy's 3 for 3 and 26* went a long way towards our targets, Deggy chipped in with 22 and Biebs 17.
May 17 - Under 11's reporter Sam Eddy says - Last night’s report… A fantastic cup win against Cheadle. Put into bat we finished on 280 for 5 (255) with Oli scoring 26 n/o and debutant Alex Bloor scoring 11 n/o in a great partnership. Our bowlers then kept it very tight with some great fielding keeping Cheadle to 243 for 5 (218) with Oli taking 2 for 4. An excellent team effort was put in – keep this up lads – there wasn’t much shouting from the sidelines, but plenty of cheering!
May 17 - Under 17's can't manage to bowl out Hem Heath to earn a deserved victory on Sunday, Tom's second 100 of the season against Double H, and Dalo's 70 gave us 41 overs to skittle the visitors. But HH hung on at 103 for 8. Better news for the Under nines this weekend with a nice victory against Stone in the cup.
May 12 - Under 13's Supremo Sean Colby reports - Under 13s win again ! This week we played Checkley at home, they won the toss and elected to bat. The bowling was excellent with the team restricting Checkley to 254 for 7 ( nett 219 ). Oli taking 2 for 9 off 3 overs, Alex, Charlie, Will G and Louis each taking a wicket. Not a big target to chase down, but the lads scored 280 for 5 ( nett 255 ) to win by 36 runs. Alex Holland, Louis Colby and Will Gallimore each scoring 16 not out, and Charlie 11. A very professional performance from all the lads well done !!
May 11 - Under 15's progress to the third round of the KO cup with a 39 run win at Wood Lane, Ozzy hitting 30* and Jacko 25* in our 103, tight bowling all round 2 wickets for Deggy and 2 wickets for debutant Jack Millington saw the boys to a home match against Porthill next Monday.
May 11 - Under 11's report.....A close game for the U11's on Monday. Put into bat we scored 268 (Oli 13 and Nathan 13) - however the wickets fell leaving us with what I thought would be a losing 238. Cheadle came out after drinks full of confidence, but some great bowling by Jack Dundass (2 for 7) and Nathan (2 for 7) saw them off with their final score being 232. Well done lads, but us parents have no fingernails left! We play them again next week in the cup - the wicket loss has to stop!
May 10 - Under 15's beat Stone by 1 run last night! An amazing game with our boys notching up a modest 74 for 9 off 20 overs, Harvey Biebs top scoring with 15, but was thought to be a bit light, some great bowling from Potty and Ozzy pegged back the home team, Zoe taking 2 important wickets and coupled with some fantastic stops especially from Geoff saw the home team needing 5 to win off the last over, Deggy kept his nerve and Stone only managed 3 runs to leave them 1 shy only seconds before the thunder and lightning tore through the gloom!
May 9 -PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS AT MHCC JUNE 4th!! Watch this space!!!!
May 9 - Management meeting tomorrow - Tuesday 10th May 2011, 7.30pm.
May 9 - Finally our first senior win of the season came at Stafford in the Talbot Cup, hitting 200 off our 45 overs, thanks to Dalo 40, Ifty 56, (Jimmy 5*) and Stu's 37*, tight bowling at the start from Birchy and debutant Ozzy kept Stafford down to just 44 for 2 off 18 overs, Jase then picked up the off-spinning gauntlet from Ozzy's 2 for 23 from 9 overs and collected himself an unplayable and tidy 4 for 29 off his 9 overs. Stafford battled hard but finished 145 all out with 9 balls left after a polished performance in the field and behind the stumps from MHCC's finest.
May 9 - An interesting day Saturday for the one's whose first victory of the season was taken away (or made almost impossible at least) by a complete lack of understanding of the rules of the game from the Ump's! The late start due to the rain should have reduced the game to a 47 overs a side game but somehow the Umpires had misread the rules known to all players and supporters of NSSC cricket and allowed the first innings to still retain it's initial 55 overs allotment. Bowling poorly but batting brilliantly our boys finished 35 short of the 254 target but ended up having 12 less overs than Oulton. Stoney smashed his first ton of the season and was well supporting by Shakie who hit 70. The two's unfortunately went down again this time to Newcatle & Hartshill despite Tom Eddy's return to form with another 80.
May 9 - Under 17's crash at Longton... enough said!! At least they have had their blip early in the season!!
May 9 - Under 9's Paul Twigg reports...The U9s result for saturday was a draw due to the rain preventing the match from being completed. Meir won toss and decided to bowl. Stone SP B 1st inns 25 for 4 net 5Meir Heath 1st inns 41 for 2 net 31 Stone SP B 2nd inns after 5 overs were 33 for 7 net -2. An almost certain victory snatched away by rain!
May 5 - Under 17's also win in their cup against Hem Heath, Tommy Edwards kick started his season with a brutal 126* in our boys 210 for 1 (Dalo 44). We then restricted Double H to 125 for 5 off their 20 overs, with Deggy taking 3 wickets from his 4 overs.
May 5 - Under 13's Cup match report from Shaun Colby - Last night the Under 13s played in an excellent game against a strong Sandyford team in the first round of the Cup. There was nothing like leaving it late to gain victory but win they did. Meir Heath batted first and scored 299 for 3 ( 284 nett ), with contributions from all the lads but in particular Oli Edwards 12 no, and Will Gallimore who only likes to deal in 4's scoring 6 of them in his 28 no, well done. The runs continued to flow on the shorter boundaries, Sandyford were restricted to 296 for 3 ( 281 nett ). Will Ward and Charlie Walford bowled very well at the end to restrict the flow of runs. With 2 balls to go, Sandyford were in a winning position on 296 for 2, Louis Colby bowled the final over and took the 3rd wicket on the 5th ball of the over to actually bowl a wicket maiden and finish with figures of 2 for 10 off 3 overs, to seal a 3 run victory. Congratulations lads, and not forgetting that its not just the lads mentioned already that played, Alex, Shazad and Jason all made contributions to get the team over the line. I think we play Leek at home in the next round details to follow.
May 3 - Social gathering on May 14th!! See home page main picture for details!! Come on City....(you know which one I mean really.....)
May 2 - A bit of pride restored on Sunday morning when our Under 17's hammered Moddershall. Scoring 176 off our 35 overs, Ozzy hitting a classy 70 not out helped by 'Welcome Back' Frank Gallimore's 27 not out. Mod's reply was cut short by Tom, Dalo and Limmy's 2 wickets each, Asim 1 wicket plus a great run out and with Ozzy taking the last wicket with only 2 overs left.
May 2 - Bad weekend for the Seniors again unfortunately, with the One's going down to Moddershall by 7 wickets despite a classy and very much 'not out' Stoney 59 and Dalo's 36 coupled with some very unsporting behaviour from our neighbours, moving on quickly to the Two's and again we struggled letting Moddershall amass 316 for 6, in reply Beefy's 75 and Glen's 37 helped us to reach 163 all out. The Two's also lost in the Shield on Sunday, allowing Ashcombe to score 226 with some ordinary fielding was always going to be tough, a great 96 run opening stand from Stu and Fred (both hitting 41) set up a great opportunity but 3 quick wickets and then some sloppy shots from the middle order left us 35 short with 8 overs left after being bowled out.
April 28 - Report from Under 13's last night - The under 13s lads win a cracking game against Moddershall, winning the toss Meir Heath batted first and scored 284 for 4 (nett 264), runs from all players with Shazad scoring 11 no and Jason Hallam 10 no. The lads then kept Moddershall down to 278 for 5 ( nett 253), Shazad in the wickets with 2 for 11, a good evenings work from him. Well done lads you all worked really hard tonight, and despite a good effort from there last player who plays in Moddershall's Second XI, you have been rewarded with an excellent result. Sadly though, i do like grapes but not sour ones, and our coaching from the sides was apparently too excessive, behave you bad lot !!!!!!!
April 27 - Friday nights plans from Sam! - Hi All, many thanks to all who attended our Easter Egg hunt - we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.Onto this week ...There is a private function at the club on Friday, but they have very kindly given us access to the bar via the conservatory. Hopefully it will be a nice night and we can raise a toast to the happy couple outside. Having spoken to a few parents this week, they have commented that they would still like to continue with our royal wedding theme and have offered to bring a plate of sandwiches or cakes for us all to enjoy our 'street party' whilst the children are training (yes we will have to save some for them once they have finished) If you would like to bring something along then that would be great - please let me know in advance.Look forward to seeing you Sam
April 27 - Junior scores - Under 15's beat Oulton by 65 runs. MHCC 163 for 1 (Ozzy 38*, Jacko 38*, Deggy 35*, Skin 19*), Oulton 98 all out (Azzer Ellis 4 for 15) a great win with some excellent fielding especially from no pain no gain Zoe Hallam!! Under 11's reporter Sam Edwards was at Checkley and had this to say ... A sorry loss for the 1st game of the season – reasonable bowling from the lads kept Checkley to 50 however as the light dimmed so started the wicket loss! An excellent finish from top scorer Jack Dundass and Jack Lewis stopped the game from being too painful – a good lesson in keeping the wicket was learnt as our overall run rate was ahead of the opposition. Roll on next week to start the winning ways!
April 26 - Disappointing weekend for the seniors, with the ones losing at Whitmore, setting 159 (Stoney 34, Birchy 37) to win for the hosts was never enough and although they slipped to 85 for 5 the home team strolled home 6 down. The two's also went down although posting a respectable 205 for 6 (Ozzy 38, Joe 42, Potty 52*), but Whitmore's experienced players were too good for our youngsters and they got there with just 4 wickets down. The Three's faired a little better on Sunday with a losing draw in a high scoring game at Wedgwoods. Wedge's hit 247 for 6 (Tom B and Asim 3 wickets each), the three's hung on bravely and finished 183 for 9, which included an all run 5 between 14 year old Ozzy Crump and 63 year old Chairman Tom Baker!! Stevie G and Asim defended sensibly the last 4 overs. Earlier Glen hit 33, Rory Jacko 33 and Ozzy 45 in our reply.
April 21 - New Under 13 reporter Shaun Colby writes exclusively for MHCC and reports - Under 13s Pairs win first game of the season away at Barlaston. It was a closer result than may have seemed. Barlaston won the toss and batted first, all of the lads bowled really well restricting them to a nett score of 227. Will Ward and Shazad took a wicket each, best bowling figures though was for Louis Colby who took 2 for 3 off his 2 overs. The lads then all batted well to post a nett score of 245 with Will Gallimore hitting an unbeaten 16, including 2 cracking 4's. A neat and tidy performance all round for the first game of the season, well done to all the lads.
April 21 - Hi All, Just a reminder that tomorrow is our Easter Egg hunt night after training. All little members are welcome to come along and join in the fun! We will have hotdog's and burgers available throughout the evening.and finally....can I remind all juniors that they must sign in and pay with me in the club before they start training - thanks. Thank you to those who have offered an Easter Egg - if anyone else would like to bring one along, they will be gratefully received! See you tomorrow Sam
April 19 - Under 15's hammer Stone B in the cup. MHCC 153 (Ozzy 28*, Jacko 25*, Geoff 26*) - Stone 26 all out (Mobber and Geoff 2 wickets each), nice debut for Harvey 'Biebs' Lowe with a wicket and a quick fire 13.
April 18 - First weekend of Senior games ends with One's picking up a winning draw at Leycett, Stoney 37 and Jake 30 top scoring, Leycett finishing 5 short with 9 wickets down at the end, (Ifty taking 5 for 20) another tight finish yet again for Stoney's men. The understrength Two's battled well but were eventually beaten by Stafford, Podge top scored with 27 in our 145 all out, chasing down 193 for victory, Skipper Rob Potty taking 4 wickets, debutants to the second team Deggy and Baby Potty taking 3 wickets between them.

November- PLAYER PRE-AGM MEETING THURSDAY 2ND DECEMBER 8PM @ MHCC
November - After both Junior presentations and a great Hog Roast Senior presentation/Meal/Disco evening the winter is now well on top of us, well done to all who won trophies for all of our teams, I will endeavour to put a full list of trophy winners on here asap! Please accept below as notice of the club's AGM to be held on December 14th at MHCC.
September 30 - IMPORTANT OFFER MESSAGE FROM CLUB SECRETARY !
Can I bring our cricketer's attention please to the question of playing subscriptions for next season. The committee met recently and a discussion took place when it was generally thought that it was inevitable that there would have to be an increase next year, and perhaps a sizeable one at that as well. As a way of encouraging members to pay their subs early we also agreed that a notice should go out to cricketing members saying that next season's subscriptions could be paid NOW at the present rate of £40:00. Will you kindly place this information on to the club website as soon as possible also stating that the deadline to take advantage of this concession would be 30th of November, 2010; in other words immediately before the AGM in early December 2010.
September 27 - Cheadle pics and match report now online! See snaps and reports... obviously...
September 20- To finally put the last game of the season to bed, both the 1’s and 2’s finished just shy of promotion having gone into the games with hope. The 1’s needed a win at Cheadle and Sandyford to claim less than 14 points, unfortunately both didn’t happen. The 2’s finished a good season off in style with a win over Cheadle however this wasn’t enough due to Leek having been awarded 25 points for playing against an ineligible player in the fixture they lost to Oulton the week prior. This has been a great season for both Saturday teams on and off the field, there has been a true club spirit throughout and long may it continue, there has also been some excellent team and individual achievements. The end of season do reflected the season perfectly which saw the likes of Dafid Jones, Don King, A Golliwog, Gene Simmons, a Zulu and a J-Cloth (to name the top 6) grace us with their presents as well as many more great fancy dresses. Special mention must go to all those off the field for thier hard work this season because without these people this season would not have been possible let alone successful.
September 20- Meir Heath Women are League Champions 2010. Congratulations to the Meir Heath Womens 2nd team who are unbeaten champions of the Womens Midland League Division 3 West and have been nominated for The Stafford Borough Team performance of the year award.
September 6 - After this weekend's results, the one's are just 11 points off Sandyford in second spot and the two's are just 1 point off Leek for second place!
September 6 - Another victorious weekend for all 3 of our senior teams, with the ones smashing Stafford (see Don's Match report) with Stoney and Billy again in top form. The Two's also won with a convincing victory at riverway, hitting 213 for 5, with Lukey following his ton up with a quickfire 37 and Ozzy's classy 71 setting up a target far too big for the County town team. Toy and Potty picking up 3 wickets each coupled with some amazing catches and an incredible right boot drop goal from Freddie!! The 3's triumphed also with Freddie hitting his first 50 for 2 years and Naj smashing 74 off only 28 balls as we strolled home against Alsager 3's by 38 runs.
August 31 - Firsts and Seconds win, Stoney smashes 50 in 10 wicket win for the ones with 94 opening stand with Billy. Two's smash Blythe 2nd's with 200 for 4 off only 28 overs mainly due to Luke's first century (114*) and Beefy's 50. Under 17's grab a winning draw off Longton who batted out their overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Ozzy hit 64* and Tom 50 in our 180 for 4 declared, with Longton 60 short at the close.
August 30 - 1st XI Blythe Match Report now online! New Snaps as well.
August 24 - New Lookie Likie and Club Snaps.
August 23 - Rain affected games this weekend against Whitmore, ended with the Two's finishing 1 short of victory after having only 16 overs to knock off Whitmore's 114, with Luke Heath smashing 55. First's match report below and pictures on Club Snaps, cheers DDA !!
August 23 - Whitmore 1st XI vs MHCC on 21:08:2010. See Match Reports.
August 19- End of Season Fancy Dress Theme decided...
August 19- Saturday saw a good win for the 1's against rock bottom Rode Park on a difficult wicket (Full Scorecard http://nssc.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=10899242 ). After Saturday's results the first remain 24 points adrift of promotion back to the top flight of local cricket. With four games remaining for the boys to cement a promotion place we ask that all member look to show and continue there support on a Saturday. The 1's run-in is as follows: Whitmore(A), Blythe(H), Stafford(H) and Cheadle(A).
August 19 -Information posted on this website is only information that I am aware of, I cannot put 1st team reports, 3rd team information, or any other Junior or general club information on here that I am not involved in, unless I am informed by yourselves. This is NOT my website and I simply have the ability to upload data onto web hosting software. The comment at the top of this page has been in evidence since the first day the website was introduced and is I believe quite self explanatory, and I feel rather agrieved at some comments been made about the site and it's inclusions. ANY email with MHCC related content I receive will as it always has be put online as soon as possible.
August 16 - Congrats again to Tom Edwards who hit his first senior century (112*) and also to Ozzy who hit his first senior half century (51*) in the 2's 197 run victory over Rode Park.
August 11- Congratulations to both Tom Edwards and Dale Heath on breaking the U17's Kidsgrove League Opening Partnership Record with an unbeaten stand of 222 (Edwards 103* Heath102*). This is a tremendous achievement not only for both boy's but also for all those involved at Meir Heath and is a credit to the hard work they put in off the field. Well Done Fella's!!!!
August 11- All at Meir Heath send their condolences to the Clarke family regarding the recent passing of Ian Clarke may he Rest In Peace

There is no doubt, that the weather greatly affected this league - we play on the Saturday and Blythe play on Sundays - teams ought to play on the same day! Cheers Jon.
August 4 - Despair reigns for U11 parents (especially me - the wine is open as I type) - our first loss the Blythe! We lost too many wickets and didn't take enough...Last game of the season next week boys - enjoy it - looks like a 2nd place in the league - congratulations to you all from me as I won't be there next week - hit lots of runs and take lots of wickets and keep Shaun busy with the score sheet! Thanks to Dave Probyn for an excellent season - don't forget the lads and dads game!
July 23 - Another great win for the U11's against Caverswall. Choosing to bat Oli 14 n/o and Josh 10n/o set us off followed by steady innings from the rest of the team finishing with another 10n/o from Jack. Two wickets were lost leaving us with a good 251 on a wet wicket. Caverswall could only finish off with 226 after losing 6 wickets - 3 again to Charlie's bowling. A good all round performance - well played boys.
July 19 - Blip weekend for all senior teams, but now it's out the way for the final push! First's lost at home to Norton amassing only 129 was going to be hard work (Stoney 37, Jake 30) and Norton came home with 5 wickets remaining, which see's us slip to third 2 points behind Sandyford. The Two's didn't fair much better after losing the all important toss on green 'un, we battled well to hit 144 which included 3 LBW's. Norton then crawled home with 9 wickets left. The Women's 1's lost away at Old Modernians too on Sunday, as well as our Men's First's 20/20 interest faded away at Checkley, losing both games in tight games. Better news from the Juniors though with the 13's winning against Barlaston, and John D reports our Under 9 game - OnSaturday, the U9s continued their amazing run, with their sixth straight win in a row. This latest success against Cheadle, in the U9's final league game of the season, put them top of the league - 1pt ahead of 2nd placed Blythe, who where due to play their last game on the following day. Disappointingly, Wootton did not turn up on Sunday, which gifted the title to Blythe! The U9s surprised everyone to finish the season as runners-up (P8 W6 D3 L1 PTS 37), with a team who had not played much league cricket before this season. If the weather had been kinder, with 3 Saturday washouts, I'm sure we would have won the league. However, congratulations to Blythe on winning title. Well done to everyone who played this season - me and Dave are very proud of your achievements. CCC 417 MHCC 473
July 14 - Stats man has just noticed Tom has reached 1,000 MHCC runs for the season, with Ozzy only needing 6 more to join him!! Good effort guys!
July 13 - Oulton suffered once again at the hands of MHCC as the One's and Two's pick up 25 points each. Batting first the One's amassed 222 for 3 with Birchy smashing a quality 131* well supported by Ifty's 58*, then dismissing the O's for 181 with Ifty and Birchy combining again to pick up 3 wickets each. The Two's also picked up maximum points, hitting 235 for 7, Tom 75, Dode 61, Freddie 38 and Ozzy 30 pick of the batsmen. Oulton Two's then fell apart thanks to Toy's 6 wickets as they crumbled to 130 all out. The Three's hung on for a draw at Checkley, Naveed starring with 77 in our reply which finished 24 short with 9 wickets down. The Women's 1's lost away at Warrington despite Kelly Wainwright's 78. Under 13's lost to Newcastle with only Josh Bristow 20* and Olly Edwards 18* making any scores of note in our innings. Under 17's had a winning draw against Meakins. Batting first we amassed 176 off our 35 overs which was completely dominated by Tom (run-machine) Edwards who hit his first century of the season, smashing 110. Meakins however hung out for the draw on 130 for 5 in reply. Last Friday saw the end of our National Under 13's run as we lost to Milford Hall by 40 runs. Better news for the 11's on Monday though as Sam Ed' reports - Hooray we are back to our winning ways! A convincing innings set us up with 270 - top scorer being Charlie with 19. This followed by excellent bowling all round with Leek losing 7 wickets and finishing on 215. Again all praise heads towards Charlie who took 3 for 6. Well done lads - a great response to last week's defeat. Keep up the standard next week against Caverswall.
July 6 - Under 15's beat Stone by 2 runs, Tom 35*, Matty 30 and Ozzy 36* in our 119. George Ellis saved the day with some tight and cool headed bowling taking 3 for 23 at the end of the innings.
July 6 - Sam Ed with the 11's - So close and yet so far....Nervous batting and excellent bowling by Checkley gave us a first innings of 248 with Nathan being the top batsman with 13 n/o.Good early bowling with James Edwards 2 for 17 and Josh Bristow 2 for 7 gave us hope, but Checkley finished 7 ahead with 255. Good try lads considering the pressure us parents put you under!
July 5 - Firsts lose at Sandyford by 48 runs, Ifty 6 for 52 and Shakie 38 main contributors on the day. Two's back to winning ways tho' with a 6 wicket win, Ozzy 4 for 37, Tom 3 for 37 backed up by Dalo's 31, Tom's 41, Dode with 43, Ozzy 29* and Freddie 26*. Three's also won at Alsager by 5 wickets. Women's One's lost to Sheffield by 10 wickets, but the Women's two's beat Aston. Under 17's beat Endon mainly down to Tom who took 3 wickets in Endon's 93, and then smashed 71* in our 94 for 2, a good weekend for the 17's following the defeat of Meakins in the Cup on Friday night, with Tom again scoring big with a classy 97 well supported by Ozzy with 49* in our 107 run win.
July 4 - Jon D with the U9s - On Saturday, the team won their fourth league game on the bounce, away at Checkley, with a superb allround display. This keeps the pressure on league leaders Blythe & Oakamoor, who are only 3pts ahead, with 2 games remaining: Oakamoor(H) and Cheadle (A). MHCC 489 CCC 402. Come on lads (and Helen)!
June 29 - Mega round up of games here - Starting with the firsts who beat Cheadle by 86 runs, with congrats to maiden centurion Billy Locker who hit 109 in our 217, stoney also with 51. Cheadle were skittled for 131 with Birchy snaffling 6 for 39. The two's went down tho' after htting 194 off our overs, Dalo 53, Tom 52 and Neil 44*. Cheadle won the game despite losing more wickets and having 6 more overs than us (???) Ozzy taking 4 for 39. The three's won a great game on Sunday chasing 210 for victory, Stevie G 3 wickets, then an impressive 137* from Naveed Ahmed and 32 from Freddie took us to victory. Under 13's beat Aston on Sunday, Aston 34 all out, Under 13's 36 for 3. The One's came through the next round of 20/20 action seeing off Caverswall and Betley, Stoney, Shakie, Ifty scoring well on the day. The Women's 1's lost to Ransomes by 96 runs, but we did see Franki James hitting 92 off only 45 balls. Junior round-up reports... Sam at the 11's - Another fantastic win by the U11's against a strong Oakamoor team. Put into bat we ended with 273 with some great innings by Jack Lewis 22 n/o, Charlie Walford 15, Patrick Storer 13 and Jack Dundass 10 n/o.Oakamoor crawled to a halt after their giants were excellently kept off strike by our keen fielding. Nathan Gowland's 2 for 4 was inspirational and they finished on 241. We need to keep the defibrillator handy as coach Dave Probyn can't cope with the excitement! Bring on Checkley next week. John D at the 9's - On Sunday, as I was on the way to Snowdon, to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge, Dave and the U9s won their third league game on the bounce (W3 D3 L1) at home to league leaders Blythe. MHCC 485 BCC 424. This win takes them to within 3 pts off top-spot, with 3 games to play. Hopefully we'll have something to celebrate come the end of the season! Under 15's lost to Oulton by 7 runs chasing 118 we finished on 111, Tom hitting 35* and Charlie picking up 3 for 16 including a Hat-Trick!!
June 22 - Under 15's suffered a shock defeat at bottom placed Eccleshall last night, only posting 80 off our 20 overs despite Ozzy's 35 and Charlie's 17, Eccleshall romped home with 10 balls to spare. Better news for the Under 11's though as Sam Edwards posts - Another great win for the under 11's. We chose to bat and we hit 279 with Oli redeeming his 2 wickets by hitting 22 and Nathan recovering from his run out by hitting 12. Good steady bowling by everyone held Cheadle to 258. Half way now lads - we need to keep this going to the end!
June 21 - Round Up of weekends action - Friday saw our Under 13's progress to the next round of the National KO by beating Porthill by 7 runs, Jacko's 33 and Potty's 23 helped us on our way. Saturday was again so near so far for the one's with Stafford hanging on 9 down at the close, Stoneys 69, Billys 48 and Iftys 43 set us up with 214 to defend. That was never in danger of being overhauled and Ifty's 5 for 37 was nearly enough to roll over Stafford. The boys are still well placed in the league though and with a bit of luck from now on in we should be hard to stop in our promotion push. The Twos suffered a surprise defeat at home to Stafford 2's. A poor batting performance of 130 all out was never going to be enough and although after we broke the back of Staffords batting they crawled over the line 6 down. Spirit of cricket is certainly well and truly deceased in Stafford as we were left to play most of the innings with Stevie G leaving the field injured and Stafford not even contemplating a sub fielder for us, where as any true cricket follower knows, 'it is the done thing'. Sunday saw the women's 2's lose their game at Moseley with only Linday Watten (49) making any impact on Moseleys bowlers in our 112 all out, Moseley cruised home at 113 for 3. 20/20 action at Porthill was resumed after last Sunday's downpour, and it turned into the Beefy day! Set 95 to win against Porthill 'A' in the first game Beef and Stoney knocked them off for 0, with Beef starring with 56 not out. The second game a stiffer test was set by Hem Heath/Forsbrook who hit 143. Yet again Beef struck gold on his way to his second fifty of the day in our 7 wicket win with nearly 6 overs to play. Unfortunately the game and day will probably be remembered for Beefy being given out because one of Hem Heath's players was crying. With only 12 to win off 7 overs Beef chipped a ball up towards the bowler who in an almost laughable attempt to get to the ball claimed Birchy had impeded him and the ball dropped to safety. The bowlers tantrum and toys out of the pram actions called for the "umpires" to back up his claim that Birchy had cheated and deliberatley barged him and he was not just eating sour grapes and Beefy should be given out (correctly in the laws of the game if Birchy had deliberately obstructing him). Nevertheless Cool Stu and Jake knocked off the remaining dozen runs after Birchy had tried to hit the Spirit of Cricket Bowler into South Africa and mistimed one.
June 20 -Jon D with the Under 9s - Today U9s won their second league game of the season (W2 D2 L1) v Wootton MHCC 492 WCC 463. However, this didn't make-up for Wednesday's disappointing last ball defeat at home to Little Stoke in the 2nd Round of the Ralph Mitchell Cup on Tuesday, despite producing (to date) our best performance of the season. The sportmanship of our U9s was exemplary - unfortunately our opponents didn't share our values. Well done lads (and Helen)!
June 15 - Under 15's win a nail biting 4 run victory over Milford Hall last night, mainly down to Tommy E', who after hitting 31 in our 87, Ozzy also chipping in with 26, picked up 3 fantastic catches and a wicket to win us the game. Sammy E' couldn't be there but sent this hot off the press bulletin from the Under 11's - A fantastic win against arch rivals Blythe for the U11's. Put in to bat first, we knocked a total of 279 with Nathan Gowland shining with a superb 28 assisted by Oli's 17n/o. Our fielding was well rehearsed with Blythe losing 5 wickets and Will Ward taking 2 for 16 leaving them with a sorry 240 finish. Well played lads, lets keep this standard up for the rest of the season
June 14 - Wendy's Cheese mystery is solved! See Club Snaps!
June 14 - Friday nights Junior training will be at the earlier time of 6 til 7.30 enabling everyone to watch the big screen Football in the club and eat some of the Hot Dogs that are going to be on offer.
June 14 - A big well done to Rich Stoney and Nicky McDonald for completing the Potters 'Arf in a time of 1 hour 34 minutes. Good effort chaps.
June 14 - Round up from the weekend's cricket. First's get winning draw against Blythe, hitting 223 for 9 thanks to Ifty's 60, Stoney's 49, Billy's 31 and Jason Priest's 31. Blythe hung on for a draw at 169 for 8 with Ifty taking 4 for 29. The two's also got a winning draw, chalking up 180 for 7 off our 50 overs, Ozzy 36 and Tom 34, Blythe finished on 166 for 7 with Ozzy picking up 3 for 30. The 20/20 was a wash out at Porthill and the boys will be back there next Sunday. Notable performance of the weekend though was at Oulton with our Under 17's taking on the O's. Batting first Dalo and Ozzy put on a very impressive 126 for the first wicket when Ozzy fell for 52. Dalo sitting on 75 at the time, he then continued to soldier on and with great team spirited running from Ketch, Asim and Joe enabled Dalo to face most of the strike in the closing overs. Needing 12 for his century off the last over of the innings, he surprisingly took a single off the first ball, obviously realising Joe would get a single off the next ball and the bowler was due to bowl 3 short balls in a row which he despatched for 3 more fours giving Dalo his first ever century. Well done Mate !! Oulton's reply was close but we held on for a well earned draw as Oulton finished 7 short of our 171.
June 11 - Jon D with the Under 9s - Today U9s won first league game of the season (W1 D2 L1) v Cheadle MHCC 488 CCC 412. Next up, it's Little Stoke (Home) in the Cup 2nd Round on Tuesday!
June 9 - Sam Ed at the 11's - The U11 cup run ground to a halt today with a defeat by Longton. A valiant 17 n/o from Oli nearly got us there, but some excellent bowling by Longton left us 5 short in the chase. All to play for in the league now lads.
June 7 - Almost a perfect weekend for MHCC results, wins for the first's beating a very unsporting Whitmore team, Stoney smashing 59 starred with the bat, then Ifty spun us to victory with 5 for 46, Birchy also chipping in with 3 for 48 in a 25 run win. The Two's also triumphed again in a game marred by more unsporting behaviour from Whitmore's deliberate time wasting efforts. Dale and Ozzy picked up 3 wickets apiece, Ozzy and Neil then saw us home with a fine 58 run 7th wicket partnership. The Women's One's won an amazing game on Sunday chasing 182 for victory, the girls seemed doomed at 136 for 9, but fantastic application from Kathryn Whyle (39*) and number 11 Ceara Toal (2*) saw us home with 10 balls to spare. The Women's two's strolled home against Forton by 10 wickets, Zoe Hallam taking 4 wickets in Forton's 52 all out. Under 13's also won, bowling Longton out for 92, Wardy and Potty 3 wickets each, then knocking off the runs for the loss of just 3 wickets, Deggy 20 and Ozzy 53*. Only blemish of the weekend was the 3's who just went down to a strong Audley team. The three's hit 121 (Wozzer 43) only to see Audley scrape home by 2 wickets despite Stevie G's 3 for 33 and Ado's 2 for 22.
June 3 - Well done to Stoney beating a very competitive field in the first Cricket Endurance trial. Stoney's time of 1 minute 58 second was just enough to beat Jakey's 2 minutes and 2 seconds. Beefy picked up most awards with 9 on his attempt but finished a dissapointing 11th out of 14. Ketch finished 14th but had just had a curry apparently.
June 1 - Sam Edwards at the 11's - A good win for the boys today having been bowled 6 times and reaching 234 with Charlie Walford 15 n/o and Louis Colby 12 n/o. Caverswall could only reply with 213, with Charlie being star of the show taking 2 for 1.
May 31 - Rain spoiled the one's inevitable victory against Rode Park, Ifty 5 for spit, Billy 30 and Birchy 36* left us just 30 short with 19 overs to play. The weather also ruined what looked like an exciting finish for the two's as well, Grego picking up 3 wickets before his operation. The thirds also drew despite Naj's 90 in a high scoring draw. Under 17's came so close to victory again (Jacko 40), with Hem Heath 9 down as were Longton 2 weeks ago. The 13's grabbed their first victory after last week's debacle with a 7 wicket win at Barlaston, Deggy hitting 43.
May 27 - One's progress in the Andrew Knighton Cup against our favourite team Oulton, MH hitting 147 (Birchy smashing 52 and Kev's car) Oulton 109 (Ozzy on first team debut 3 for 20) and some excellent fielding all round especially Stoney's second screamer in a week.
May 26 - Sam's Junior report - The U11's tonight completed the Leek hat-trick with an easy victory. Congratulations to Louis Colby on his 17 n/o, and to the rest of the team who despite losing 8 wickets between them posted 250. Leek's reply was hampered by the 11 wickets we took with some fantastic fielding finishing them off for 209. Fielding practice has paid dividends, now time for running between the wickets practice! Keep up the good work lads.
May 26 - Jon D with the Under 9's - Here's one for the website - if a little late - result from last Friday! U9s win first game of the season, at the 2nd time of asking v Eccleshall - in the first round of the cup. MHCC 497 ECC 447
May 24 - Round up of games form this weekend. Starting with the One's, and a surprise was almost on the cards when plucky little Leek CC almost snatched a shock draw against the mighty MHCC, their brave effort to hang on for the draw lasted until just 5 minutes before the end of play and Stoney's men breathed a huge sigh of relief after almost not completing the rout. Stoney's half century and Birchy's all-round efforts followed by catch of the season off the skipper led us to victory, and the capacity crowd was left stunned as we came away with 25 points and Leek needing a new set of stumps. The Two's backed up the one's performance inflicting Leek Two's to their first defeat of the season albeit to some strange umpiring decisions. Hitting 199 thanks to Dalo 43, Freddie 39 and Ozzy 37, Leek struggled to get going and faltered to 129 all out, although at least 3 of the 5 LBW decisions were to say the least dubious. Toy bowled superbly picking up his 5 wickets. The Under 17's won yet again after Ozzy took his first ever 5 wicket haul in restricting Porthill to 111 all out, Dalo and Tom smashed 87 between them before Tom was the only wicket to fall, then Dalo steered us home carrying his bat with 53*. The Under 13's unfortunately suffered at the hands of the Umpire from Newcastle & Hartshill after finishing on level scores at Clayton. Set 151 to win off 30 overs and cleverly keeping 'Castle's opener Heeks in who took 29 overs to reach his 50!! The boys set off well with Deggy looking in fine form before being triggered by the Umpire, every cloud certainly has a silver lining though as Geoff Ward blasted his way to his maiden half century, in what should have been a match winning innings. The boys needing 7 to win off the last 2 balls, were gifted a No-Ball Beamer which Ozzy smashed for 4, leaving us needing 2 to win off 2 balls. However the aforementioned Umpire decided that was a bit to close for comfort and said the beamer was below waist height thus leaving Ozzy needing to hit 3 off the last ball, unfortunately he only managed a 2 to leave the scores level. What a shame an Under 13's game and result was altered by a grown man in charge of developing good cricket, and a pity that Wardy's brilliant innings was not quite enough to get the lads their first win of the season.
May 20 - New Zealand International Women's World Cup Runner-Up Rachel Priest has landed in the UK and arrived with Landlord Paul Goodwin at MHCC. Rachel will be playing for MH women this season when international duties allow and she will also be representing Staffordshire in the county Championships which start this Sunday, Good Luck Rachel and welcome to our club.
May 17 - Games galore this weekend to catch up on... Starting on Friday night the Under 17's went to Longton in the Cup and came away with an amazing last over victory chasing 120 to win Ozzy's 61* set up the platform for Ketch to hit 19 off the last 2 overs to see us home. Saturday saw the first's narrowly lose to Betley again, with Betley coming home with 2 wickets to spare, Stoney 72 and Jake's 30 not enough to allow for a few dropped chances, despite Nicky again taking 3 wickets. The two's however triumphed by 40 runs, hitting 193 for 9 (Neil 42, Joe 33, Three Heaths 26), then bowling Betley out for 153 (Dale 3 and Ozzy 3 wickets). Sunday saw the 17's just miss out on a league and cup double over Longton, hitting 106 (Dale 39), Longton blocked out the final 7 overs with the last pair at the crease to finish on 59 for 9. Women's firsts struggled at Old Modernians in Yorkshire with the home side smashing 307, a respectable reply was made through Charlotte Whyle's 72 and Franki James' 53, getting the girls up to 204. Rach's Girls won again bowling out Penn for 89 (Hannah Day 4 for 12) the Women's Two's strolled home by 10 wickets with Lindsay Watten hitting 46*. Game of the weekend was definitely the Mens Two's against Sandyford in the cup, after our boys had hit a massive 276 thanks to Dalo's 69 and Ozzy's first senior 50, Sandyford staged a remarkable hitting spree in the last dozen or so overs needing over 100 to win they won with 2 balls to spare, several costly dropped chances and 29 wides tells most of the story. Monday night however restored a bit of club pride again with the Under 15's beating Longton in the cup, MHCC 124 (Ozzy 25, Matty T 25, Deggy 19*, Jacko 19) Longton 119, and then Under 11's knocking Blythe out of the cup, as match reporter Sam Edwards quotes - A fantastic victory over arch rivals Blythe to continue our cup run. The team pulled together and scored 261 with no wickets being taken and Blythe could only manage 248, even with a couple of dodgy umpiring decisions. Congratulations to Oli for his first ever 6, to Adam Hughes for his fantastic bowling getting 2 for 15 and to Jake Clarke getting 1 for 2 in his first U11 game. Roll on the next round!
May 11 - Second team for Saturday's and Sunday's games is Neil, Freddie, Grego, Dalo, Beefy, Luke, Ozzy, Joe, T-Dot, Toy and Tom Eddy.
May 11 - Under romp to victory against Stone SP, Chasing 107 to win Jacko 35*, Tom 28 and Ozzy 30* saw the lads home with 3 overs to spare.
May 10 - Under 11's reporter Sam Edwards releases this statement - After banging my head against a wall - this is the nicest I can come up with! After last week's fantastic win, the U11's failed today to beat Checkley by 4 runs.Excellent batting by Oli 20 n/o and Josh 13 led us to a 1st innings of 250 after losing 4 wickets.Easily do-able, but sloppy fielding by the whole team led to the disappointing loss despite James Edwards valiant effort of 2 for 13 and Louis Colby's 1 for 3. Note from Dave lads - fielding practice Friday!
May 9 - Five matches involving MHCC teams played today, the Under 13s went down by 9 wickets at Aston, posting 91 (Matty Thomas 29) was never enough runs and Aston strolled home losing just 1 wicket. The women's second team got a little bit of revenge by hammering Aston Ladies, with Aston being rolled over for just 13! Rach's troops knocked the 14 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. The Women's firsts lost at home to Walmley by 130 runs, only Franki James 40 and Charlotte Whyle 30 putting up any resistance. The thirds also went down at Wedgwoods, hitting 117 all out (Stusim 38) was also well short as Wedgwoods came home by 5 wickets. Match of the day and certainly performance of the day and possibly the season already was the Under 17's. Despite quite embarrassingly only managing to field 7 players (sarcastic thanks to the lads who couldn't make up the other 4 places) and with skipper Dalo on county duty, our boys romped home to victory by 13 runs. Hitting 130 off our 35 overs against a very experienced Meakins team, Ozzy Crump carried his bat superbly to hit 52 Not Out in only his second game for the 17's, well supported by Rory (23) and his brother Sam (14), but with only 5 fielders Meakins still crumbled under Asim's accuracy and Adam's (New Twin) pace, with both of them taking 4 wickets each, some excellent catches from the Jacko brothers and superb fielding by all 7 lads we came away with an even better victory than at Meakins last year when we beat them with only 8 players! Well done Tom, Ozzy, Rory, Asim, Joe, Adam and Sam. Although our 7 players are good players it would be nice to see MHCC putting out full teams and hopefully once the ridiculously long Football season has finished we can get some lads playing a proper man's game.
May 8 - Another cold weekend was made even colder by Leycett firsts after losing their one player who scores at more than 2 an over the shutters were well and truly put up. Hitting 176 for 8 off our 55 overs (Shaky 57, Birchy 40), Leycett's turgid reply of 127 for 9 off 57 overs was nothing more than pathetic, after losing Derbyshire Second team player Redfern for 0, the visitors blocked out the remaining 54 overs enabling them to an undeserved draw, Nicky again picked up 4 wickets, with Big Show 2 and Ifty 2. The two's romped home again after almost letting the game slip away at Leycett. Struggling at 98 for 8, poor fielding and sloppiness enabled Leycett to get to a repectable 167 for 9. A shaky start after losing Beefy and the Real Beefy early on was salvaged somewhat by Luke (in love) Heath 31 and Tom's 24, but the main partnership was between Freddie and Ozzy who put on 60 runs to leave us within touching distance of victory before Neil and Ozzy saw us over the line with 10 minutes of play left.
May 7 - Under 17's made it 2 out of 2 with a 8 wicket win against Checkley, the visitors hit 113 off their 20 overs, but this wasn't enough for our lads, Tom's 62 and sensible batting at the end from 'the finishers' Ozzy and Rory got us over the line with 2 overs to spare.
May 6 -News from Under 11's by our reporter Sam Edwards - after last weeks loss by 1 run the U11 team have had their 1st win this year. In the cup v Leek with 2 good innings from Patrick Storer 15 n/o and Louis Colby 11 n/o and bowling Jack Lewis 2 for 4 and Oli Edwards 2 for 12 to win by 48 runs. A fab start for Dave Probyn and the boys.
May 4 - Women's practice night is and always was Tuesday's 6.30 at MHCC - Don't Forget Ladies !!
May 4 - After another busy weekend, MHCC came out with 2 wins and a draw out of 4 games. The one's getting a winning draw at Norton hitting 151 for 8 (Stoney 50, Birchy 23), Norton after the rain interruption were 124 for 8, with Nicky and Ifty bowling magnificently picking up 7 of the 8 wickets between them and Birchy getting his usual amazing Run Out again. The Two's unfortunately came unstuck at home, in a game which despite Neil and Greg's age must of had the largest ever age difference between 2 sides in the history of the sport! Our Schoolkids bowled and fielded brilliantly and bowled out the experienced Norton team for just 137 (Dalo 4 wickets, Ozzy 2 and Luke 2), but the wily bowling was too much for our lads as we were rolled over for just 53 (Dalo 16). Sunday was a different matter with Jet-Lagged Tom Edwards waking himself up with a sparkling 77 in our 236 against Caverswall in the Shield. Dalo hitting 56 and Rory 'Jacko' Jackson smashing 26. Carsa never looked like troubling the total and were eventually bowled out for 169 (Dale 2 wickets, Ozzy 2, Beefy 2 and Grego 3). Sunday morning saw our boys beat Endon, Endon making 86 (Ozzy 3 wickets, Dalo 2) and in reply despite losing Dalo and Tom quite cheaply, Rory (21*) and Ozzy (36*) saw us home by 8 wickets.
April 27 - Under 15's beat Oulton by 46 runs, MHCC 134 (Ozzy 35*, Rory 31, Matty Thomas 33) ; Oulton 88 (Mobber 2 for 12, Zoe 2 for 24, Deggy 2 for 2, Ozzy 2 for 8)
April 27 - Firsts lose by 1 run against Betley in a rain and injury affected game! Birchy and Nicky restricting Betley to 197, a galant reply finished just 1 run short with Chinese Butcher Stu Sim smashing an impressive 64 and Ifty (he should be making toys) Asghar hitting 39.
April 27 - Another great league weekend for the Seniors against Oulton, with the one's sneaking home by just 8 runs and the two's winning by 9 runs! Welcome to the MHCC new club pro' Iftikhar Asghar (Ifty) who performed well with bat and ball with 41 and then followed up by 3 for 36 in a nail biting finish with Shakey, Lefty and Billy the only other players in double figures. Great bowling from Nicky (5 for 44) did most of the damage along with Ifty's 3 wickets, but 2 outstanding pieces of fielding made the difference, Birchy's incredible run-out throw from 65 yards away (it will get further away each year we talk about it) and Shakey's fantastic last wicket catch sealed 25 points fro the good guys. An almost carbon copy game for the two's also took place, setting Oulton a modest 161 to win, thanks mainly to Freddie's 30, Ozzy's 23 and Cal's 23, the game twisted both ways from 18 for 3 Oulton looked in trouble but at 132 for 4 the game seemed to have gone to the visitors. Two quick wickets with some safe catches then left Oulton needing 17 with just 3 wickets left, a confident catch from debutant Rory Jackson off fellow 13 year old Ozzy Crump's bowling then Toy returning to the the attack picking off the ninth wicket left Oulton 9 down still needing 9 runs. Toy for the second week running taking 4 wickets, was soon followed onto 4 wickets by Ozzy who snared the last man caught at Mid Off by the safe hands of Asif Khan, to finish off a great comeback where the last 6 wickets were taken for just 19 runs.
April 26 - New Club Pro' Iftikhar Asghar is said to be a nice bloke!
April 23 - New World Cup competition is in action. As we always need a few extra quid MHCC are running a World Cup Competition, the form you need to copy and print out is on the 'CLUB SNAPS' page and all entries to be filled in, paid for and submitted to Neil or Stoney before the tournament starts. Why not print out a few dozen and get them sold at your work place, signing on venue, student accommodation etc. as this could actually make us some money.
April 22 - T.Dot returns from his sick bed to rejoin two's.
April 21 - Under 15's went out of the cup last night by just 11 runs to Ashcombe Park, with key players stuck in Florida, and Football matches unfortunately taking another 3 players away from the team, a loss by 11 runs was a great effort by the lads (and lass). Charley Finney and Rory Jackson both scored their 25 retired runs, but unfortunately a host of dropped catches by our young side led to our defeat.
April 19 - Volcano latest! The Edwards family are still stuck in Florida and may have to wait until the 29th of April before they can get a flight home! Travel safe guys !!
April 19 - Another great weekend for the 2 senior teams, the seconds rolled over Sandyford 2's for 75 thanks mainly to Toy's 4 for 12, Dalo and Jack also picking up 3 wickets each, contributions all round saw the good guys home by 8 wickets. At Willow Lane the one's posted a credible 197 for 6 off the 55 overs mainly down to the efforts of Jakey who smashed 91 Not Out and who was well supported in the middle order by Lefty's 29. Catches win matches and no finer example was in Sandyford's reply, good catches all round including a stunner from Nicky left the boys 1 wicket away from victory with 13 overs left, 10 overs later and it looked like a draw was going to be scraped by the visitors until Big Show tempted the last man to flash at a wide delivery and see Lefty take a screamer at slip to secure 25 points. 4 wins out of 4 for the seniors in 2010.
April 15 - Well the season got off to a fine start for the first and seconds last weekend who were both in cup action. The Firsts disposed of Oulton mainly thanks to Stoney's fantastic innings of 132, followed up by top bowling from Big Show with 4 wickets to ease us into the next round. The Two's also triumphed with a comfortable win against Stafford, Jase's 47, and a 77 run partnership from Ozzy and Neil set the bar to high for Stafford with Dalo picking up 3 wickets in their reply.

February 11 - First moan of the New Year, just to inform all those committee members who should know who they are. A management meeting takes place once a month, every month on the second tuesday of the month. Poor attendance has been recorded for the last 2 meetings with this weeks meeting only seeing 9 memebers in attendance. Important decisions have to be made and voted upon and with a reduced number of members tasks and decisions that are important to the clubs development are being postpon. We understand that memebers give thier time up freely and we appreciate this but please try your best to attend the meetings and if you are unable to do so please contact Don to express your apologies.
February 11 - Contrary to belief MHCC doesn't close down over the winter period it just becomes slightly dormant. If you have an event idea or want to hire the club out get in contact with Don Adams to arrange a date and help ensure we have money coming in and not only goin out.

Could as many people as possible turn up as both Wendy and Dawn are giving thier Sunday up free of charge and we don't want it to be a waste of time for them. Also there is talk that fines will be imposed to those of you that don't pay by a stated date!!

The 13s,15s and 17s will be at Sandon alternate weeks ie - 17th February, 3rd March 6 til 8pm.
January 14 - A plea for this sites continuity - If you have any MHCC linked news please email admin as we have had complaints from people at the lack of updates of information, as this is your site as much as mine if you don't tell us about things how do we get them online??? Help is urgently required as Jake and Neil can't continue the site without your help. We have 5 months before the site needs to be renewed and it seems a waste of money to host a web site without it serving a purpose. If you want to learn how to help to administer the site please let us know.
January 13 - Junior nets info from Junior Supremo Paul Goodwin - Hi Folks, Hope everyone has had a good Christmas and New Year. It's that time again. Boys Juniors start on Wed 13th Jan at Sandon HS, 6.00pm to 8.00pm. U11 and U13's one week, U15 and U17's following week, then alternate weeks. If possible can we all attend each week and help each other out. It will widen our expeience of working with other age groups than our own teams. Also the more coaches there will enable more opportunity to do do some one to one work. Look forward to seeing everyone on Wed 13th Jan. Regards, Paul
January 13 - Voting over and Beefy and Joe have triumphed over Tranny Grego Heath!
December 2009 - Kidsgrove League Under 13's presentation was a proud moment for MHCC, with Batting, Bowling and Fielding trophies being awarded for all 3 divisions to MHCC players. Ozzy Crump won the batting with an average of 47 and also took the fielding award with 14 catches, he almost did the treble finishing second to our own Chris Mobley who averaged just 5.4 with the ball.
December 2009 - No news is good news they say.... well the AGM threw up Stoney as first team skipper, with Crumpy second team captain and Naj taking over from Freddie Q in the 3's. So i'll let you make your own mind up there.

October 8 - As some of you may or may not be aware, Rich Inskip (2nd Team part-time Captain) climbing Kilimanjaro next February for cancer research in memory of his mum & dad. His personal target is to raise more than £5000 for the cause.
Rich has organising a Karaoke night at the Windmill on Saturday 14th November. It would be great if you could join him on the night for what Im sure will be a great evening for all and hopefully raise plenty of money.
Rich is also making a plea for help! He is hoping to run an auction & raffle on the night and hopefully have some great prizes up for grabs. If any one could be so kind as to provide prizes to auction off it would be much appreciated as this is a great way of making money. Or let Rich know if you would be able to bring something on the night to raffle off that would be great.
If you do have any idea's or think that you could provide something as a prize, please feel free to call Rich on 07540750646.
Lets all try and support Rich in this and future events that he organises.
September 26 - Season over, its time to start and pack up the ground and tidy it up ready for next year and our new nets!! On the 25th of October, there abouts anyway the new nets will be going in at the top right hand side of the ground. So in preparation we need to cut back the trees in that area so that the nets will go in and when they do they will not get torn or ripped. There is and will be a huge amount of wood and branches to move so we need bodies! We are thinking of using this wood and other sheets that are torn or have holes in them to have a bonfire later in the year?? (and anything else that is burnable!!!!) So next Sat the 3rd of October anyone who is available could you please come down early morning to help out. Thanks guys.
September 15 - Well what a weekend! After a few sleepless nights the firsts finally secured 1st Division status with a 6 wicket victory over Cheadle. Nicky's 4 wickets and Broughy's amazing 4 for 2 off 10 overs ensured Cheadle (our favourite other team by the way...) were skittled for just 84. A steady batting performance saw us home and sent Kidsgrove down to play Moddershall 3rd team. Well done to Stoney and Jake who's commitment and determination helped to keep us only 1 league lower than where we belong. The 2's also romped home to another 25 points with Tom Edwards 59 and Ozzy Crump's 26 pushing us to 208 declared, Dale Heath's 6 wickets baffles the home side and they were all out for 140. The players that starred are all members of our Under 15 set up! Well done to Rich Skippy in helping to bring along our home grown talent and giving the lads the opportunities. Saturday nights fancy dress was duly observed by the majority and the Vote Now page is ready for your input !
September 14 - Vote ends with no big surprise.......

September 4 - With rumours of this sites demise, we are looking for another helper in keeping the site alive, Jake and Neil have seen loads of you all on Facebook idling your time away so how about contacting us to help out with info and stuff on here?? A lack of response may indeed put the final nail in the site's online-coffin. Please contact Neil or Jake now !
September 4 - WIth the season coming to an end and with us still waiting for the Hottest summer in years to arrive let's wish Stoney's boys every bit of luck we haven't had this season in the next 2 matches.
September 3 - MHCC/Fenton Under 13's finish in second place this season losing just 1 game, a great effort by all - Top batter was Ozzy with 233 runs @ 46.6 and Bowling was Chris Mob's with 15 wickets @ 4.8.
August 17- MHCC members are presently basking in the reflected glory of award winners Chris Smith and Dave Ford following a splendid ceremony at Knypersley Cricket Club a couple of weeks ago. The Staffordshire Cricket Board's annual "Oscas" awards is a prestigious way of acknowledging and rewarding amateur and volunteering club members throughout the county. "Smithy" achieved HIGHLY COMMENDED status in the "Behind the scenes" category while "Fordy" was also granted HIGHLY COMMENDED status for his work within the "Building partnerships" category. Both were handed their trophies by Board officials Stuart Bourne and Gerald Williams respectively and with the other winners and their guests were invited to stay for lunch. Our own thanks and congratulations are also extended to these two unique stalwarts of our incomparable club. DDA.
August 12 - After popular demand DDA has organised for 'The Cool pilots' to entertain us with thier live music once again. The gig will take place on 22nd August with a 9pm Start time. Admission is £2 per head but is well worth it. Its important we get back on track with supporting our club, its been along time since we last had a get together and got some well needed money spent behind the bar. These one off events have become even more important for the clubs cashflow due to the recent cancellation of the fives day. All members are welcome so lets make sure you do show your face!!
August 12- Recently 7 Meir Heath members went on a defibrillator course with a view to getting a defibrillator for the club. As a result of all 7 members passing the course Meir Heath are know the first cricket club in Staffordshire to have a defibrillator on site. We currently have one on loan from Staffordshire's ambulance service but will eventually need to pay for one. We need to raise £900 so get thinking of fund raising ideas and lets make sure we support them when they come along.
August 12- The Andrew Knighton finals day has been arranged for the 23rd August at Stafford Cricket Club, both semi's and final will be played on the same day with Meir Heath set to take on Cheadle.
August 12- Meir Heath Women had a convincing win against Burton Latimer from Northampton in the quarter final of the Midland league cup on Sunday 9th August. Meir Heath were 164 for 4 from their 40 overs and bowled out Burton Latimer for 47. Kate Manley top scored with 48 and also took 3 for 10. Meir Heath now play away at Five Ways from Birmingham in the Semi-Final on Sunday 6th September.
August 11 - Managament meeting tonight 7.30pm MHCC.
August 10 - Sorry for lack of information over the last couple of weeks, Jake and Neil have been busy! The other factor has been the weather, basically it has rained since the last entry. A notable recent feature was the two's victory at Sandyford, bowling the home side out for 20 with Broughy taking 4 for 0 off 7 overs. The Patio is coming along nicely but the drainage is becoming rather concerning as we are not playing games of cricket now when every other local team is. Check out the puddle in this July picture!
August 10 - Vote over, it seems we like Cheadle CC the bestest!! New 'Vote Now!' now open.
July 24- The women are playing their final league games of the season on Sunday, both are at home. 1sts against Leeds at Meir Heath 11.00 a.m. start, 2nds at Oakamoor against Clifton(Derby) 2.00 p.m. start. The firsts need to get 2 points from the game to stay in the National Premier division but have beaten Leeds at their ground earlier in the season. We should be at full strength and are confident that our pre-season goal of staying in the Premier league for next season can be realised despite losing 4 senior players from last season. The second team which consists of six players from our girls teams are in a position to win the West Midland Division 3 league if they beat Clifton on Sunday. Clifton are currently 4 points in front of us in top position but if we win we will get 20 points to finish champions. The second team are also in the quarter final of the Midland Cup against Burton Latimer (Northampton) on August 9th at Oakamoor.Dave Ford
July 13 - Results from the weekend. Firsts draw at home to previously friendly team Whitmore thanks mainly to Jase Brit's 41 and Guesty and Skippy seeing the last couple of overs out, after Stoney had taken 4 wickets in Whitmore's 213 for 9 declared. The two's dominated but couldn't break through for a win after good runs from Dalo, Beefy, Clarkey and Tom. Tom's 4 wickets weren't quite enough as Whitmore saw out the draw. The thirds played their part in a good game on Sunday, set 175 to win we finished 148 for 7 when time ran out. Stu Sim's 26 looked promising but a series of strange LBW's halted the progress, Freddie hit a stylish 42 before attempting a rather hopeful single and was Run Out. Had we taken our catches (I counted 7 drops) as well as Ozzy's skier the target would have been in our grasp. The Under 13's won again against Blythe on Sunday morning (see Juniors) for report in an amazing fightback.
July 9 - A little later than anticipated but a bit of a round up from the weekend just gone. The firsts notched up another win with a great batting display at Kidsgrove especially from Nick and Jake (see Dan's next installment in 'Firsts'), the Two's came good as well with in-form Podge hitting 61 off only 46 balls. Great news for the Edwards' with Tom hitting his maiden century at Moddershall in a close run drawn game. The Under 13's comfortably beat Barlaston by 6 wickets with Ozzy hitting an unbeaten 37 in the run chase of 85 after Zoe Hallam took 3 for 6. Unfortunately the Womens first went down to Warrington but the Womens second team brushed aside Lullington Park by 18 runs.
June 30 - With nearly 70% of the Vote Mick and Rich Stoney take the Penfold-Dangermouse LookieLikie Trophy for 2009, well done guys. Brand new Vote Now! now open, get voting.
June 30 - New Dan's match report in Firsts !! Check out this weeks masterpiece plus a couple of club snaps from Mr. New Orleans himself.
June 29 - A win at last for the firsts ! Stoney guided the 1's to a comfortable 6 wicket victory over local rivals Cheadle. Set 172 to win off 56 overs after Guesty and Skippy did the damage, Rich saw us home in plenty of time with an unbeaten 78, Joe Woody hit a classy 57 in a fantastic 2nd wicket partnership of 106, then after Shakie's strange 'Umpire from other end decision' Run Out, Billy Locks hit a quickfire 21 to see us almost home, Stoney then smashed the winning runs to complete a welcome win. Good news for the 2's also with a great win too, Podge's 54, Beefy's 52 and Luke's 96 set an impressive total of 280. Newly 'sober on Saturday' Grego then took 4 wickets to polish of Cheadle 2's for 174. Unfortunately the 3's lost at home to a strong Knypersley side although great performances from Matt Holmes 50 not out and Ozzy Crump 33 not out boosted our score from a precarious 33 for 4 to a modest 147 for 5. Knype strolled home though with 6 wickets to spare. A close game for the Under 13s at Fenton saw our lads eventually drawing the game, hitting 108 for 7 off our 30 overs (Ozzy Crump 46 not out), Little Stoke reached 101 for 9 off their overs with Chris Mobley taking a well deserved 5 for 6 off his 6 overs. The women's second team also lost in a good game against Clifton CC, set 162 to win (Amy Carnwell 5 for 16) our girls ended up 24 short with Rach 'Dodgy Dad Decision' Ford hitting another blistering 39 runs and Ellie Bourne chipping in with 26.
June 23- The coaching kit which we brought thanks to a grant from the O2 community fund arrived at my house yesterday in the form of 7 large parcels, we hope to be using its content thursdays and fridays. I ask that you respect and look after the kit as there is £950 worth and we want to have it in good condition for many years to come.
June 23- Thanks goes to' Ickle Man Enterprise' AKA Steve Prime for another brilliant quiz. Watch this space for the next one to ensure you don't miss out!!
June 23- After last weeks confusion over the 1st and 2nd XI's fixture, we eventually played Norton CC with the firsts at home and the 2nds away. The 1's preformed somewhat better than they have in recent weeks with a much better team spirit. The game swung throughout the day and was a real thriller with 45 minutes to go, all 3 results still being on offer. Norton had been set 154 and needed 40 odd off 10 overs with 5 wickets in hand but thanks to sum smart bowling from Nicky and Guesty they ended 4 short with 1 wicket in hand. A game I dare say we would have lost last week had it not been for people hard work during the week. Well done guys!! We deserved more but lets not rest on our laurels and push on and turn this season round. To see both the 1st and 2nds scorecards go to http://meirheath.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/results.asp
June 17- Steve 'ickle man' Prime will be hosting his 2nd quiz of the season this saturday (20/06/09) lets all make an effort to come and join in...speaking from experience the last quiz was bob on as i'm sure this will be.
June 17- Sunday saw MHCC host the Twenty/20 and host it we did!! Off the pitch was a great success thanks to those few people that worked really hard to make the day. Special thanks must go to Steve and Hayley Prime who were the first to arrive and the last to leave, i think its fair to say they didn't stop all day. Although MHCC lost both their games, some very exciting cricket was adding to the carnival atmosphere particluarly the Stone game.... Nick Hubble claimed a hat-trick and Naj hit 73 from 26 balls including 9 sixes getting MHCC within touching distance of victory but it wasn't to be and we fell 4 runs short. Stone were the winners on the day and go through to the next round.
June 17- 3rd's managed to pull a draw out the bag against Hem Heath on sunday. Wicket keeper / spinner Callum Rowley was in the wickets claiming 6. Hem Heath 202-7 dec Meir Heath 122 for 9
June 17- Yet again no news is bad news. Last weekend saw both Meir Heath's 1st & 2nd fall short at the hands of Stafford CC. There was positives to be taken from both games though: Billy and Shakie both made good contributions with the bat for the 1's. Clarkey claimed 6 wickets with Luke and Pk making valuable starts with the bat for the 2's.
June 5- There will be a fashion show at Meir Heath Cricket Club on Thursday 11th June. Please come and support the club. £2 entrance and plenty of bargains for all ladies and for gentlemen for their ladies.
June 3 - Under 15's lose to Moddershall. After hitting 105 off our 20 overs with Dalo, Brooky and Asim scoring well, all after run-machine Tom had been given Run Out in curious circumstances to say the least, the visitors got home with 2 overs to spare only losing 1 wicket mainly thanks to a 18 ball 32 from their skipper.
June 2 - No news is bad news unfortunately, 4 weekends have passed and our Senior teams have recorded no victories against Sandyford, Barlaston, Elworth and Blythe, with the Women also losing to Warrington. Only the thirds have notched up a win for us beating N&H in the cup. Stoney is back in fine form with an awesome ton at Blythe and a quality 71 only to be Run Out in both innings', a win is only just round the corner with the Skip' now in top form. Better news for the Under 13's who remain top after beating Oulton.
May 22- Shakies Press Release ' Well my Secrets out!! I confess i'm a part-time super geek!! A fact that is hard to hide when its broadcast on national television. Had I known the awesome response you guys gave me I would have told you sooner but if i'm honest I was in fear of challenging Naj for Critch's prestigious club B*%^£!D Award 09. I'd had the audition planned for months and after being selected for the 1's on saturday I thought it would be in jeopardy but thanks to the rain and some crafty calculations from Mr Till (Saturdays umpire) cricket finished early and I made it to my audition. I thank all of you for your support and hope it continues. In the words of the former 2nd team skippy and ozzy illegal immigrant ' Vote Eugene' . Finally can I make a plea to you all to send me ideas for my next poem. Geek Out!! '
May 19 - During a long hard selection last night Alex 'Freddy' Quaintance made the schoolboy error of sucking on his gel pen. A mistake am sure we have all made during are Junior School days !!! This sucking action resulting in a leaking pen which in turn came in contact with freddy's face a number of times.(hense the black ink on his face) Freddy was even good enough to pose for a photo which he thought was for the 'Captains page' on the website having no idea that he had actually started his very own zebra face mask. When told the error of his ways freddy commented saying 'I've let my self down, my team down and most of all Meir Heath down sorry guys'
May 18 - Under 13s were washed out at Longton yesterday, but a plea was made by Emma Ward Mum of 2 of our Junior players, Geoff and Will Ward. She is desperately short of friends on FaceBook and although she is originally from Bromsgrove I can vouch for her stable being and credibility, please make Emma's day by being her friend, she is on my friends list if you want to add her and she looks like this.(Neil)
May 17- Those of you that were at the 1st team game yesterday may recall Phil Stephens making a fast get away at the end of the game. I believe that I have found the reason he had to dash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7ijwEwAvdo
May 17- Rain played a major role in saturdays first team fixture. Barlaston crawled to 134 off 60 overs, special mention must got to Broughy who was impressive with the ball on debut claiming figures of 2 for 24 off 11 overs. After the rain meir heath were left with just 38 overs to knock 134 off. Further rain ment that more overs where lost leaving just 28 overs to claim victory. In reply we could only manage 86 for 6 at close of play. The hour after the end of the game was arguably the brightest and driest of the day but due to the rain affected game rules, play must stop at 8 o'clock. The 1st XI came out with a draw and the 2nd XI lost with both Billy locker and Tom Edwards making valuable contribution with the bat. To see the scorecards visit http://meirheath.play-cricket.com/home/home.asp
May 16- Meir Heath 1st XI will be without the height and pace of Big Alex Walley on saturday against Barlaston due to a knee injury he picked up last week. As a result Richard Brough has been called up to make his first team league debut.
May 13- Your club needs you !!! The club is currently struggling for volunteers to do the bar for a private hire on the Friday 22nd May if you are willing to help please contact DDA on 01782 850940
May 12 - Under 15s beat Stone by 60 runs, the lads hit 127 for just 1 wicket thanks mainly to Tom who smashed a faultless 37 not out, a steady 35 from Dalo and quick runs from Ketch and Frank also helped us along. In reply Stone never threatened with Tom picking up 2 early wickets, steady bowling throughout from Frank, Pete, Ozzy and Dalo restricted the home side to just 67 off their 20 overs.
May 10 - Better news on Sunday though for MHCC teams as the Thirds triumphed by 1 wicket (details please Fred!) against former friends Wedgwood and the Under 13's won again this time against Blythe thanks mainly to Ozzy who hit 50 not out and then took 5 for 12, Luke 'Giggles' Morgan also played his part with a great 44 in a 98 run opening stand. Link - http://meirheath.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=10824745
May 10 - Sunday afternoon sees Staffordshire district North and Central teams include 4 MHCC players, Brandon Philpott-Hughes, Chris Mobley, Ozzy Crump and Ben Degg in a game at Ashcombe Park.
May 9 - Congrats to Shaky, who hit his maiden century at the weekend hitting exactly 100, unfortunately the two's lost by 1 wicket despite Matt Skip's return with 6 wickets. The first's also lost chasing 194 to win, Stoney's boys fell well short at 83 all out, Dalo top scoring with 15. Surely Shakey century should secure Saturday selection?
May 8 - Our U13 Girls Team won the first ever game of the new hard ball league. We beat Blythe. MH scored scored 105 for 1 off 16 overs plus the 200 that pairs games start with; Blythe scored 39 for 4 off their 16 overs plus 200. So the revised score was MH 300 Blythe 219. Easy win and a great start.
May 8 - Stoney comments in captains corner.....
May 6 - Meir Heath tie goes on sale for a tenner.... see Greg Heath to purchase yours!!!
May 6 - May's management meeting is set for Wednesday 13th May at MHCC with a 7.30 start.
May 6 - Joe not included in Sentinel write up shock, this weekends games have not included any mention of a certain Mr. Joseph Woodward.
May 5 - Under 13s get winning draw against boring Barlaston, set 99 to win off 30 overs, Borelaston managed 42 for 7 after making no attempts to score the runs required. Giggles hit 29 for the Under 13s and Deggy took 3 for 5, with all-rounder Mobber hitting 18 and then taking 2 for 11.
May 5 - Nicky Locker declares himself fit for saturdays game, after sustaining a nasty knee injury against crewe at the weekend. Locks will undergo a fitness test on thursday to ensure that everything is ok.
May 5 - Matt Inskip comes out of retirement this week, playing for lookie likie Rich Inskip in the 2nd XI. Matt will be hoping to regain the new ball in the first XI in the coming weeks.
May 5 - Team to play Sandyford CC and Wedgwood/Creda just in....
April 30 - Both Under 13's lose to Longton this week, Rach's team lost by 20 runs and Dave Hassell's team went down by just 3 runs. The Under 15 game against Oulton was called off.
April 29 - Stoney thoughts on how he thinks the season is going so far can be found in captains corner.
April 29 - Freddie Q's review on Sundays game in 'Thirds'.
April 28 - Sadly this weekend club friend affectionately known as Ketch's Grandad - 'Brian' passed away, a minutes silence was taken at the Under 17 match at Meakins on Sunday morning in his memory. Thoughts go out to Hayley, Steve and Harry who will be scoring so many runs this season to make his Grandad proud. Quite simply Brian was genuinely a lovely bloke and will be sadly missed by all at MHCC.
April 27 - Following another dry weekend MHCC chalked up a pretty good couple of days. Another win for the ones with Joe's 4 wickets and Guestys 3 wickets and Jase's 48 starring in a good team effort seeing off Whitmore to put us top of the league, the twos however lost at home by by 75 runs with Broughy taking another 3 wickets and Shakey top scoring with 29. The thirds had a nail biter at Hartshill, eventually drawing the match 5 runs short with 1 wicket left, Mart H taking 4 wickets and our Chairman knocked up 42 along with a quickfire 26 from Robbie Holmes. The Juniors had a double success too, The Under 17's beat Meakins with only 8 players available, Tom Edwards hitting 45. The new Under 13 side playing Little Stoke in the first ever game to be played on their new ground triumphed by 4 runs (match report in Juniors). The Womens first team unfortunately lost by 111 runs at Willow Lane, England player Jenny Gunn hitting 68 after being dropped 3 times proved crucial. Finally Rach's seconds romped home by 10 wickets against Forton Ladies at Oakamoor.
April 21 - Under 13s beat Ashcombe park in Cup - See Juniors.
April 20 - Don't forget any news or results you want putting on here please email admin or let me know, Cheers Neil
April 20 - The winter cobwebs are well and truly blown off with MHCC's 3 senior games this weekend all being victories! The 1's beat Albieless Kidsgrove thanks to Joe's 6 wickets and 40 runs, with quality performances from Big Al, Guesty and Jake. The 2's dispatched Kidsgrove seconds with maximum points thanks to good knocks from Shaky, Clarkey and Luke H, followed by great work with the ball from Broughy and Stevie G. The 2's also progressed to the next round of the cup by beating Woore. (Results via link in Firsts page on play cricket web site.)
April 17 - The brand new electronic scoreboard was unveiled today and I think everyone will agree it looks fantastic! Well done and thanks to all who helped getting this long overdue project done.

April 1- Meir Heath Members turn out in force last Saturday!!! Yet another april fools! last saturdays turn out to get the club ready for the up and coming season was dismal to say the very least, 7 people turned up. So has it has become accustom, we shall name and praise those who did bother to give up there day on saturday to go up the club. Rich Inskip, Beefy, Stoney, Nick Hubble, Nicky Locker, Scubb and Ever reliable Kev Locker. Sunday Nick Hubble and Rich Inskip put in yet another shift. Guys and Gals if you name isn't on the list i ask why not? in less than three weeks the season starts and many of use will be giving up saturdays and sundays to play cricket...... don't leave it to a select few that already do alot at the club to ensure that the club is ready for the first game. Captains and vices don't want to hear excuses so don't try and pull a fast one on them, am sure that over the course of the weekend you can spare 1 hour to go and help your mates out!!!! On that note we shall be up the club again this weekend getting things ready and undertaking the huge task of painting the whole of the inside of the clubhouse, so there is a chance for those that couldn't make it or couldn't be bothered last week to redeem themselves. 9.30am at Meir Heath CC
April 1-Win a Dream Wedding!! Meir Heath's very own Nicky Locker and Sarafina Montali have entered The Sentinels competiton to win a dream wedding. We ask that all Meir Heath's members support the duo by buying The Sentinel and sending the voting slip off. Their voting code is 1160.
April 1- Congratulations goes to Tom Edwards U14's and Dale Heath U15's who have both been selected to represent Staffordshire CCC. They join a every growing list of past and present Staffordshire players from Meir Heath. Good luck from all at Meir Heath boys its a tremendous effort to be selected but remember the hard work starts now!!
March 20 - With the season fast approaching its important that we start to get the pitch and facilities ready. The hard work starts on the Saturday 28th March and Sunday 29th March with the following weekend being left free to allow us to paint the clubhouse. Below is the list of jobs that Stoney has put together, am sure when we start we will uncover more. Its important that you all make an effort to give a couple of hours to help the cause, as we don't want what has happened over the past few years with the same 8 or so people doing all the work. Every one of use plays at Meir Heath and should therefore help to get the club up and running for season 09 after all we are a team and many hands do make light work!!!!

March 6 - Although the NSSC League still haven't quite managed to reply and confirm to our correspondence, I think it isn't any secret that MHCC will be affiliated with Fenton CC for 2009. Fenton CC were deperately short of Juniors and as usual we were short of a ground for Junior fixture overlaps. Hence our Under 13 boys will be playing in the Kidsgrove League as Fenton / Meir Heath and give the lads a great opportunity to be playing proper 'overs' cricket.
March 6 - MHCC Women are pleased to announce that Mark Alcock will be the Manager of the Womens first team for 2009. Mark's daughter Cheryl has recently joined MHCC from Bloxwich along with Emma Pearce. MHCC have also received another £500 from the ECB for the participation in the Premier League of our Ladies, with the possibility of another £1000 up for grabs. Womens Fixtures for 2009 are now on the fixtures page for both our teams.
March 6- Sam Edwards will be at the next 2 junior nets to sign junior memberships. The cost of a family membership is £15.
March 6- Only 15 senior members have paid their subscription fee!!!!!! this is very disappointing for Wendy and Dawn who continue to give their turn up for no one to pay in most cases. Thanks goes to those who have paid who are as follows;
Grant Heath, Jake Heath, Nicky Locker, Billy Locker, Steve Godwin, Martyn Horleston, Jason Britton, Callum Rowley, Matthew Holmes, Richard Stonier, Nick Hubble, Taiyub Rehman, Marc Townsend, Anthony Hutt, Alex Quantaince.IF YOUR NAME ISN'T ON THE LIST WHY NOT???? please note that this list only shows seniors that have paid. If the current situation doesn't improve the committee will be forced to impose fines on those that don't pay, After all £40 now is better than £45 or £50 at a later date. SO LETS PAY UP. wendy will be at senior nets again this week so don't let it be a waste of her time again !!!!
March 4- All Meir Heath coaches have been invited to two coaching workshops taking place at Clayton Sports Centre. The first of which is Video Analysis via Quintic software on Saturday 14th March 6.30-8.30. The second workshop is on Floor Based Drills and will cover batting, bowling, fielding, W/k and will take place on Saturday 21st March 6.30-8.30. Both workshops are free to attend and will give an insight into new coaching techniques that will be of great benefit to yourself and the club. For more info contact Jake: 07853076114
March 4- 3rd team and U17's 2009 fixtures in. See Fixtures page for details
February 23- Subscription Sunday saw a really poor turnout. Thanks goes to those who did bother to turn up. There is another chance for senior players to pay for their subscritpion at nets this week (Tuesday 8.30-10). Again Wendy and Dawn will be there so don't waste their time again and get your subs paid!!!! Captains need to set the example and pay for their subs as well as telling their players to do so.
February 18-Subscription Sunday 2-4pm..... This sunday is a chance for every member at Meir Heath to go and pay for their 2009 subscription fee's. Dawn Heath and Wendy Locker have given up their sunday afternoon to collect subs so don't let it be a waste of time for them and make sure you turn up!!!! Lets get it out of the way A.S.A.P because after sunday you will be put on the Dawn 'n' Wends hit list and you don't want that folks!! You will also be glad to see that there has been no increase in subscription fees for 2009
Family Membership £15 Senior Membership £40 Social Membership £15
February 18- Meir Heath gain yet another successful grant application. Yesterday the 02 Community fund rang to confirm that we are to recieve a grant of £820. The money has been allocated as a result of Meir Heath supporting its local community. The money will be used to buy a cricket coaching bag that consists of ladders, hurdles, balls and loads of goodies. We are looking to get the kit bag by the start of the season and hope that with its aid Meir Heath's junior section will continue to develop and have an even better season than last years. Special thanks goes to the 02 Its your Community fund committee for their kind support. Also thanks must go to the memebers of the 'funding team' for their hard work yet again!!!
February 18 - A suggestion from one of the Junior Mums is to have an old kit web page where MHCC players who have kit which is too small or not needed anymore can be passed on to other MHCC players. The page is intended to use good faith and help our own members out with kit that sometimes only lasts 12 months. If you have any items that are collecting dust that other MHCC Juniors may benefit from please post the items and descriptions on the page. If you want any of the kit please contact the seller to arrange collection. Why not help each other out during this Credit Crunch !! Please see page for more info'.
February 18 - Late last night Rich Stonier secured the signature of Checkley Chinaman Nick Hubble. The left arm leg spinner was unavailable for comment as he had to be in bed for 10.45. Stoney said the signing was "******* Ace news".
February 17 -A note from the Chairman - Just a quickie to let you know that next month's Management Meeting is scheduled for Thurs March 5th. The change of day is to allow the cricketers amongst us to partake in much needed (speaking for myself) practice on Tuesday. It is anticipated that normal service, i.e. Tues will be resumed when the season starts. Tom B.
February 10 - The Junior presentation night on Friday was a great success after a small scare with Ozzy 'Italian Job' Crumps trophy handling, with a good turnout from players and parents alike to celebrate a great 2008 for our kids. Well done to all the winners of trophies and a special mention to one very excited Mother who could not contain her joy at the mention of her son's maiden half century. (No names mentioned!) The winners were: Dale Heath, Callum Rowley, Harry Prime, Jack Wooliscroft, Frank Gallimore, Liam Brookfield, Ellie Bourne, Zoe Hallam, Shannon Weston, Tom Edwards, Luke Morgan, Ozzy Crump, Ben Degg, George Ward, Becky Day, Alex Ford, Alex Holland, Jack Lewis, Ben Thomas and last but not least Olly Edwards. The trophies which were kindly donated by Dave Moulton of Sportsland in Meir and were presented by first team skipper Rich Stonier, also present was chairman Tom Baker, thanks guys for your appearances, well done also to DF for leading the way, and cheers to all the coaches for their efforts in '08 - Mark Edwards, Dave Probyn, Neil Crump, Phil Critchlow, Rachel Ford, Paul Goodwin, Greg Heath, Jason Britton and Jake Heath.
Below - Under 15 players with League Trophy.
February 5 - Olly Edwards has been selected for the Staffordshire District Central squad for the 2009 season. When interviewed on Sky Sports earlier today, Olly said it was no big surprise he was selected and he fully expected to get in. Mainly due to the fact not many attended the trial. Olly also announced that this was just another step in his bid to become MHCC's Under 17 captain, but didn't state which season he was aiming for. Parents Mark and Sam were absolutely thrilled at the news and brother Tom only hoped that Olly's new commitments wouldn't stop Olly coaching him.
February 1 - Junior presentation alterations. Due to the cancelation of the Annual Ball and the use of the Marquee for the whole of the Junior presentations, we have now had to relocate the presentations into the clubhouse. As the numbers expected for this would overwhelm the clubhouse we have decide to split the presentations into 2 halves as we did in 2008. The times therefore for the Under 9s, 11s and 13s will be from 7 til 8pm and the Under 15s and 17s will be 8.30 til 9.30 pm. Hopefully we can get a good turnout for the lads who all had a great season.
February 1 - Unfortunately the Annual Ball which was scheduled for this Saturday has had to be cancelled, for those who did support the club and buy tickets full refunds will obviously be made and thankyou. Whilst all at MHCC who have been involved in organising the event and can appreciate the hard financial climate, the total apathy by members new and old to inform DDA of their intentions of going or not is very average to say the least. Only 38 tickets were paid for despite many more unhonoured pledges. Only 8 members of MHCC sold tickets. It is not fair or decent to expect Don to chase after answers of attendance or non attendance and also to pledge to buy tickets without paying for them as the club agreed. I think all members should take a moment out of whatever schedule they have and in future help organisers / friends to know where they stand in putting on functions. Hopefully with this in mind and slightly warmer weather we maybe able to re-schedule the Ball for early April.
January 19 - A quick reminder to all that the senior presentation is this friday!! Please ensure that you pass the word around to ensure a good turnout
January 19 - The opening day fixtures (April 18th 2009) of the North Staffs and South Cheshire League have be announced, with Meir Heath 1st team set to play Kidsgrove at Home. The 2nd team will therefore play the same fixture but away.

Just to let you know that as of yesterday 44 had already been sold.
January 14 - Senior nets to start on Tuesday 27th Jan 8.30-10pm at Sandon High School. The day and time of the nets may change after the first session due to Sandon double booking our slot. Also Stoney lets us know his thoughts in Captain's Corner.
January 14 - Meir Heath gain home advantage in the first round of the North Staffs and South Cheshire League Twenty/20 Cup on Sunday 28th June. Taking on Rode Park and Stone SP.
January 11 - Apologies for the short notice but our junior nets start on Wed 14th Jan at Sandon 6pm-8pm. We’ve decided to alternate the age groups so the first week will be for the u11s and u13s (DF is sorting the U9s) and the following week will be the u15s and u17s. The booking runs until and including Wed April 1st and the cost is £2 per player per session. The dates for age groups:-- U11s and u13s – January 14th and 28th, February 11th and 25th, March 11th and 25th. U15s and u17s – January 21st, February 4th and 18th, March 4th and 18th, April 1st.
January 11 - Well done to Ben Degg, Ozzy Crump and Chris Mobley who have all been selected to represent Staffordshire District (Central) Under 12's for 2009.
January 10 - MHCC Raffle winners - John Britton Bottle of Champagne Don Adams Gym membership at Esporta Signed Nathan Astle shirt Marc Townsend Golf at Branston Golf Club Tom Baker Potteries Tyres £100 gift voucher Sam Sarkaya BMW for a weekend from Knights Simon Green 2 Monarch flights to Europe Lisa Finney
81 members/families were sent raffle tickets to sell. Only 33 bothered to sell any on behalf of THEIR club. Of the 33 that supported Meir Heath Cricket Club 4 were Life Members, 11 were Senior Playing Members,18 were Junior/Family/Social Members. The sellers were......... Jason Britton Paul Goodwin Wendy Locker David Hassall Graham Heath Eric Ratcliffe Tom Baker Alex Quaintance Sam Sarkaya Mick Stonier Linda Rogerson Frank Winfield Neil Crump David Probyn Marc Townsend Dan Lubbock Kay Mobley Paul Kingsbury Sue Henshall Chris Smith Martyn Horleston Mark Edwards David Chell Richard Stonier Simon Alcock Don Adams Joe Hawkins Greg Heath Dave Ford Steve Connor Hayley Prime Joe Woodward Callum Rowley. The topsellers were Jason Britton and Paul Goodwin who sold 40 tickets each.
Well done all who helped.
January 8 - MHCC receieved the second payment from the ECB today for just having a Womens team entered into the National Premier League. The cheque for £750 brings the total to £1250 for 2008 alone.
January 7 - MHCC are pleased and proud to announce the signing of Chris Guest as club professional for the 2009 season. Chris is from Wolverhampton and last season skippered Brewood CC to promotion. He is an all-rounder who has represented Worcestershire and is also a level 3 coach. Club skipper Rich Stonier said he was delighted to bring in Chris not only for his ability on the field but also for his excellent coaching credentials that will undoubtebly help our younger senior players. Rich also added that he was proud that MHCC weren't following the band wagon of overpriced overseas professionals and confident that with the addition of Chris that MHCC would be challenging for promotion as a team, and had no doubts that Chris would be made to feel at home with us all. Chris said last night that he was thrilled at the opportunity to come to MHCC and was relishing a new challenge with us.
January 5 - The Annual Black Tie Ball has been arranged for Saturday 7th February 2009. The event will once again be held at the club and in a marquee tastefully decorated. Last year's event was enjoyed by all present and I am glad to report that both the marquee and the catering will be supplied by the same company's that made last year's party such a success. Once again there will be a maximum of 100 tickets sold on a strictly first come first served basis. Unfortunately, I have to report a slight increase in ticket price to £25.00 per person. However, as a typical Meir Heath CC gesture, all attendees will receive a free drink from the bar on arrival. This confirmation of the event also means that our Junior Presentation Evening, pencilled in for Friday 6th February, can now go ahead in the marquee as planned.
January 5 - Good news to report !! We have managed to attract funding of £10,000.00. This money will enable us to replace all external doors and windows with UPVC upgrades. Hopefully, this should retain heat and enable us to cut down on heating costs. Furthermore, funds will be available to begin our "water to the square" project. A submersed tank will be installed. This tank will be linked to our clubhouse rainwater drainage system and will enable easier access, piping water to the square. It is further hoped that we can look to complete this project at the seasons end by linking the tank to the square by sinking a pipe system to water heads that could be electronically operated. As ever, the challenge continues.
January 5 - Just had this email sent to us from a friend of MHCC - TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MEIRHEATH CC CHRISTMAS IS THE TIME TO SPREAD THE GIFTS OF LOVE, HOPE, PEACE AND CHEER, WISHING YOU ALL THE SPECIAL JOYS AT CHRISTMAS AND HAPPINESS THAT GROWS BY GIVING AND SHARING MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM NIMESH AND DILSHANI PERERA OF SRI LANKA

Below is the full list of the management committee for 2009. Also Stoney has a few comments on his Captains Corner page. December 9 - Players beware of a wolf in Staffs clothing. A former Staffordshire captain is rumoured to be on the lookout to illegally pay players of any potential to play as 'amateur' at his present club.
December 8 - Don't forget tomorrow nights AGM ! On a personal note the Vote Now page which is set up primarily as a bit of fun can also be deemed as a place to let out your true feelings, and it was a bit of a surprise certainly to me that the vote on Simon wasn't 100% in favour of him, nevertheless it is OUR cricket club and if my maths are correct I have deduced that 8 people are not happy with the way things were run over the last 24 months by Simon. This is a democratic society we live in and I don't wish to offend or insult the 8 voters, but if we are to stride forward and improve issues at MHCC then suggestions and comments have a page of their own and would be viewed and heeded by all concerned and can also remain anonymous if required.
December 4 - After 6 years locked in the Vaults, the infamous 'Catch It Then' Video clip from Cheadle v. MHCC in 2002 has finally been put online via YouTube. November 26 - Mega Sky Sports day at MHCC, 1.30pm til 9pm, Bar open, Manchester Derby game followed by Chelsea-Arsenal, and then some American Football with extra padding, hundreds of players and commercial breaks for the not so sporty members who may want to just down a few more pints and use it as an excuse to make it an all-dayer supporting the club !!

The Under 13s managed a very tense victory against Cheadle which saw the guys to the league title outright as Oakamoor lost to Checkley, a great effort to win the league with only 1 defeat all season, well done again from Neil and Critch who were probably more nervous than the players. To cap off a brilliant South Moorlands League season for MHCC Juniors, the Under 15s also won the league despite the last game being rained off, the 2 points gained from this were enough to win the title, again a great big 'Congrats' from Grego to all the guys.

July 23- England Coach Peter Moores was at the Staffordshire v. After all the sports recent unsporting behaviour at club and test level this game included many sporting elements, with players shaking hands with the departing batsmen, and also the Umpire after Ozzy had walked for a caught behind, shaking his hand and thanking him for his honesty as he wasn't sure whether he had hit it or not, a great lesson to be learnt by all senior cricketers.

July 14 - A dissapointing weekend for MHCC this weekend, a poor result on a very abject pitch at Hem Heath was Saturday, and then to lose to multi-pro Kidsgrove on Sunday in the cup capped off a poor weekend of results for the firsts, the two's managed to get a draw at home to Hem Heath, but the Under 17's went down on Sunday morning to local rivals Moddershall.

Britton said he was delighted but not surprised as he felt he had always been a cut above Critch despite Phil's claims. Critchlow said that he intends to work hard for next years vote when he feels a few new competitors may enter the arena. Martin and Probyn were also dejected with the findings, especially Probyn who stated that he had felt slightly cheated because he hasn't got a computer or any friends and couldn't vote for himself or even get any friends too. FINAL VOTING BELOW

July 4 - Under 13s beat Wootton see 'Teams Juniors'
July 3 - Boy Wonder Joe Woodward suffered a scare last night after facing some hostile pace bowling from former Boy Wonder Jason Britton. Britton who has been overlooked in the 'talked about most at the bar' sessions was trying to rekindle former glories and saw Woodwards net session as an opportunity to "put things straight once and for all", Britton also commented that his pace bowling had "mysteriously gone unnoticed" in the bowling department, "I'm not proud of trying to injure Joe, but sometimes you have to knock people down a bit, and I know I can bowl pretty rapid.", Woodward shaken and concerned about the blows suffered said "I'm hopeful i'll be OK for Saturday, but more importantly Sunday, because I would love Darren Long to see something in me that he saw in Nicky last year." Joe took a fitness test 12 minutes after the incident and stated that he didn't even know who Jason Britton was.
Well done also to Ozzy Crump albeit a couple of weeks late in getting a mention, Ozzy for the second year running opened his Staffordshire batting season with a half century this year carrying his bat against Lancashire with a solid 55 Not Out.
Manager Dave Ford with Midlands Region Winners Under 15 team.
